Longtime reader here, coming out of lurking to respond...
I was just at DLH last week, and they have recently changed their policies regarding Vons deliveries. Now, you must be there to accept delivery. Bell Services will no longer accept the order on behalf of guests.
Apparently some guests complained because there were missing items from their orders, or they were not happy with the quality of some of their purchased items, or something like that. After these complaints, DLH no longer wanted to be held liable for these items, so they've asked that guests accept their own deliveries.
Even my Vons driver was surprised to hear of this change. It is fairly new. We were not aware of the policy change and were thus not at the hotel when our delivery came, then needed to schedule redelivery the next day and stay close to our room. What we ended up doing was we took a late evening delivery slot and then had dinner at Goofy's Kitchen, so we were closeby to be on call for Vons but not confined to our room.
