Grocery delivery or resort store?

We're only planning on eating breakfast and snacks in our studio.
I'm planning on packing a small suitcase with items like cereal, pop tarts, popcorn, etc. (We're staying at Pop Century first and we'll have our luggage transferred over.)

I was thinking we would order milk, bananas, bread, etc. from the fax BWV grocery list. We won't need much, only enough for five mornings. And we're the type that once we arrive on WDW property we don't leave. We just don't.

Do we need to be in the room when they deliver? They'll put milk, etc. in the fridge for us? If we check in early, but our room is not ready what happens? Will they just deliver automatically once the room is assigned even if we're not there?

Another option would be to just buy these few items at the resort store. Would they have bananas down there, etc? Is the grocery list the same as what is carried in the resort store and would the resort store be more expensive, despite the $5 grocery service fee to have it delivered instead?

I noticed on the order form there is only a fax number. How would I confirm my order once we arrive?

The items you describe are at the resort stores and I doubt would be any more expensive than what they sell it for if you order early and have it delivered. I'm not sure if they sell bananas at the resort stores though. But, I think you can get those where they set up a breakfast bar with coffee, muffins, bagels and such.

I prefer to do my own shopping on my timetable and not worry about delivery times etc. One of the first things we like to do when we arrive at the resort is go to the resort gift shop and see what's new. We pick up the essentials at that time.

We used the grocery service once and they brought it into the room and put it away for us without us being there - not sure if that is regular procedure or not but it was very nice

If you do not want to use the service then you can just hop down to the Green Door store on the BW

Prices are the same on the list as in the store

They have a certain limited selection of fresh fruit - last time we were there it was Apples, Bannanas, Grapefruit and Oranges

Yes - American (of course ), Yes (roast beef, turkey - probably some others), Yes - whole wheat and white, English Muffins as well - plain and Cinnamon Raisin

I think there is enough for you to get by for 5 breakfast mornings - they also have Cereal, Milk, Juices etc.....Not a huge selection but sufficient for not having to leave the property

Of course, the prices are a little nasty so an Internet Grocer delivery is less expensive but then someone has to be around for them

Exactly how much more are the resort store prices? If it would only be a few dollars, then I think the convenience of the location outweighs any other options, but if is significantly more expensive to shop at the resort, I would think twice. Any price examples?

Dozen Eggs: $1.25

Bananas: 40-cents each

1/2 gallon of milk: $2.95

Loaf of Bread: $2.69

Bologna (8-ounces): $2.25

Sliced Turkey (8-ounces): $4.98

Tombstone Pepperoni Pizza: $5.50 We eat a lot of these. Yummy.

I just thought I would add that we have used netgrocer.com before and had things delivered to the resort. Then we went to the resort store for the cold things like Milk. There is also another service called wegoshop....I don't know much about it, but it has been mentioned on the other boards on the DIS.

A few weeks ago we stayed at BCV. We always pack a suitcase with some foodstuffs and we faxed an order for simple stuff, milk, bread, deli meats. All of this was available right in the BC store for the same price as the fax sheet listed.

In hindsight, we didn't need to pre-order and pay the small handling fee.

Our room was ready at around 1pm and the food was delivered at 3-ish.

It would have been just as easy to go get it. There were plenty of choices for simple breakfast and snack foods. Plus we made sandwiches everyday to bring to the parks. One night we even zapped a lasagna we bought at the store and ate on the balcony, it was quite pleasant.

Our only problem was a complete lack of fresh fruits and veggies in the BC store. Absolutley none. In a valiant search for fruit one day we bought bananas at AK at a buck a piece!

I hear the Dolphin has a great breakfast bar where fruits and such are plentiful.

Thanks. I think we'll try the fax this time. I need to have some fruit in the room for the kids cause they eat such crap while at WDW. A person can only take so many fries...

Another possible shopping spot for fresh fruit and such is Tubbi's Buffeteria at the Dolphin. This is a reasonably convenient walk from the BWV (a little further from the BCV) and has a reasonable selection of foodstuffs (as well as selling prepared food from a cafeteria-style setup).

I guess the resort store is cheaper then Goodings.
I got the following off of the Goodings web page. These are the prices from a few days ago, for ordering stuff for delivery to a WDW resort and does not include the delivery fee.
They also had a $10 delivery fee and a $50 minimum.

Large Eggs 1 dz $1.79
2 Percent Milk 1/2 gal $2.69
Merita White Bread $2.39
Tombstone Pepperoni Pizza $6.29

The selection at Goodings might be slightly better then the resort stores, but it looked to me like it had a selection more similar to a 7-11 store then a grocery store.

We tried the Goodings delivery service at OKW in March. Big mistake - I don't recommend it for anyone's purpose. The delivery was a hassle with a debate about whether delivery constituted Front Desk or our room, I ordered and was charged for three gallons of water but they delivered three 1.5 liter bottles; I bought butter that was listed as $3.xx on the website AND the order form stapled to my bag but the computerized credit card receipt charged $4.xx for the butter, and on and on.

Smaller gripe, but while I'm at it: all the wrong flavors of yogurt were delivered. Might as well thrown them out instead of trying to get anyone to eat a different flavor than they had "ordered".

Ugh.
