Grocery delivery or just gift shop?

We're only staying for four days. I'd want juice, milk, water and sodas for our fridge. That would be about $36 if I have it delivered from GardenGrocer (I've used them before). I suspect it might be cheaper or about the same to just buy it at the resort. Anyone fairly familiar w/ the prices at the resort?

I can not help you with the milk but the sodas and water are 2.50 and a small water is 1.25, So just buying 6 sodas will cost you 15.00 at the gift store or the food court.

Hmmm. Might be more expensive than I thought! Two of us would like a soda each day after the parks, plus water and the kids would want juice.. So that's $20 in soda, probably $10 in water plus juice and milk. Anyone know the price of milk/juice? Of course, if I really 'think' about spending $20 on soda, maybe I wouldn't be as likely to indulge!

Which resort are you staying in? If you are close to one of the DVC resorts, their shops usually have a larger selection. You can also go to one of the Hess convenience stores on property. When I've been comparing prices, the DVC stores are priced competitively with convenience stores, and not that much off grocery store prices. I know at the DVC stores, you can usually find six packs of soda and larger bottles of soda, water, and milk as well.

Have you considered the refillable mugs?

get the refullable mugs. 12.00 for each of you for the length of your stay. includes everything but milk. soda, water, coffee, hot cocco, ice freeze drinks, lemonade and ice tea. For 12.00 you will be avg 3.00 per day. That is a crazy deal. You won't beat that with garden grocer.

Everytime DW, DS, DD and myself go we get the mugs, with two trips in the morning and atleast two or more in the evening, they are a great money saver.

We're at ASMo with no transportation. The mugs are good for soda, but then we lose the convenience of having them in our room and have to go to the food court which I don't wish to do very often. (we're on DDP) Decisions, decisions!

I'd go with gardengrocer. You have the convenience of having the items in your room - when you need them, want them - and don't have to head out to buy them.:goodvibes

I was hoping to go to the nearest walmart and get some stuff but with no transportation will have to cab it. No idea how much the cab will cost

I was thinking the same thing-order from outside or buy in the resort.

I have a question that might help you too AEGault- How big are the room fridges? I am in AS Music so if you're at a deluxe it might be larger.

However, the size will depend on what I order or bring in. Will the ASMusic fridge hold a quart of milk or a gallon?

I used Garden Grocer last time and loved it. We arrived at 3 and they called me at 6 with my order. Granted we stayed in the Boardwalk villas so we had a full fridge and stuff, but just getting snacks, soda and quick breakfast items were well worth it.

I think I spent $80 on a case and a 12 pack of soda, some yogurt and fruit, a couple bags of chips, and a few other things. For 8 people and we had plenty of snacky stuff in the room for the week without running out to get it. And we saved money (and time) with a couple of breakfasts in the room.

Hi murphnjamie!

I have a few questions (if you don't mind!:) )

-how far in advance did you place your order?
-when calling in your order, did you just say you were at the BWV or did you need the actual resort address?
-when the delivery person arrived with your order, did you need to meet him/her in the lobby or did they bring the order directly to your room?

We will be staying at the Yacht Club resort in March and I think I might use Garden Grocer for milk, cereal, bottled water, and other snack type items.

Any info you could give me would be greatly appreciated...

TIA!

I think milk was around $4 per half gallon in December. So about double what most of us pay at home.

So I'm assuming that gardengrocer and other delivery services probably can't deliver wine or beer?

Does anyone know if the little market at SoG sells alcohol?

We'd love to keep a little wine or beer in our room for relaxing at night, but it's not crucial. However, we want to bring some with us when we board our cruise, so maybe we'll be able to get our paid transportation to make a stop. :)

We're flying, so we can't bring it with us. Any other tips or suggestions for alcohol?

Since I always pack light, I put bottled water in my suitcase. My friends always make fun of me but I stay well hydrated for 25 cents a bottle instead of 2.50 a bottle.

i have never brought bottled water in a suitcase before. Is this doable?
I would have thought it may explode.LOL

It has worked for us to pack our water/soda in our suitcase. Just make sure you put it in your checked luggage.:rotfl: We have packed Diet Pepsi, only Coke at WDW, we bring small plastic bottles and have had no problem. If I was going with a family of 4 or more I would probably consider using Garden Grocer. The gift shop prices are really high.
