Grocery delivery for international guests

Here is something that I have discovered. You can't order groceries through Vons or Albertsons with an international credit card, but if you go and buy a prepaid VISA you can. I buy them from the Post Office here in Australia, and you just give the hotel address for everything and they work just fine. That should solve some problems for a few people!

It doesn't only work for groceries either. I have bought lots of things from lots of places using prepaid cards when they wouldn't accept an international card. I donate the leftover funds on it to breast cancer research.

As a fellow Aussie who is going to be there in a little more than 6 weeks, I can totally relate to how much the international DIS members will appreciate this.

We traveled to Disneyland in Feb 2008 from Australia. We ordered from Von's before we left using our international (Australian) Credit card.. and used the Disneyland hotel's address as our US address.

This worked fine.. and our groceries came as ordered! We didn't have any trouble with this at all.. and are hoping to do the same when we (fingers crossed) come back in December!

This is exactly what we did (except in May 07, this time 12 months ago we were there )

And what did you use for your billing address then - it has to match with your credit card billing address? When I tried at Von's, I could enter the hotel for delivery, but I could not enter my billing address...... only US.

For a prepaid card I used the hotel address and it worked just fine.

I did. No probs from my CC company, or Albertsons.

It's probably not the best way to go, but it worked for us (and I plan to do it again when we next visit DL)
