We are planning our trip for May of 09, and there will be 9 of us. We are going to purchase the meal plan, just because we like the idea of pre-paying for our meals. But getting the little ones out of the hotel and to a breakfast is always very hard. We are thinking of getting groceries, mainly breakfast items, and some snacky kind of things. I see on the DVC website they have a form to fill out out for groceries. Do most of you use that? Or someplace else?

This will be our first DVC trip, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheaper options would be Garden Grocer and We Go Shop - which are online services where you can order food and beverages and have them delivered to your resort. (not sure if I am allowed to post the web links - but do a google search and you will find them)

While we have not used either - I have read good reports about both and am thinking of using one of them on our next trip.

We have used delivery services before but now we just rent a car for a day and do our own shopping. Less problems and we always get what we want.

groceries from DVC-- high prices, little selection. You can buy these items yourself from the grocery area in the gift shop yourself if you don't mind carrying them to your room. If you don't need much & they have what you want this option is fine. (also watch the sizes on the order form...when I checked the apple juice is a single serving size. My daughter drinks like a gallon a week).

Otherwise garden grocer & we go shop can get you just about anything and if you are buying more than just a couple of items you'll come out ahead (moneywise) to use such a service. I think even with their delivery fee they are still cheaper & definitely easier than renting a car & finding a store on my vacation time.

We used garden grocer last trip and then ended up buying a few items at the resort towards the end of the trip that we ran out of (eggs & milk, a frozen pizza)

So, if you just need a dozen eggs, milk & a loaf of bread use DVC, if you want more...check out one of those other services.
