DH and I are going to be staying at SSR and were wondering if anyone knows where the closest supermarket is and about how far it is from the resort?

THE Closest Supermarket is "Goodings"

*Goodings - www.goodings.com

Lake Buena Vista - SR 535 & Hotel Plaza Blvd (407) 827-1200
Open 24 hours
Located at the end of Hotel Plaza Blvd in the Crossroads Shopping Center near Downtown Disney.

Prices tend to be geared toward tourists rather than locals.

Try Winn-Dixie or Publix instead of Goodings--they're MUCH cheaper since they are geared to locals.

For the W-D, turn left onto SR 535 and keep looking to your right. The W-D is in a strip center just past ABC Liquors.

The Publix is farther away, by the Prime Outlets.

Winn Dixie is about 1 1/2 miles , Publix is about 3 miles. Super Walmart is about 5 miles if you continue on 535 after taking a right out of Resort Plaza blvd.

Or, you can have your groceries waiting for you when you get to SSR. We use gardengrocer and have been very happy with their service. The prices are comparable to what they are in our home state, and the delivery charge is only $12.

Or you could try wegoshop.com.

Have you seen the prices they cahrge for in room groceries? It is the same price as WHAT THEY CHARGE IN THE GIFT SHOP! I am sorry, but no 2-liter of soda is worth $3.

GardenGrocer.com is NOT the same as in room grocery delivery from Disney. The prices from GardenGrocer are much cheaper.

Thanks everyone!!! Not sure what we will do yet ... I like the idea of having the groceries there when we get there; but there is something to be said for the "Disney adrenaline" being spent on goodies for the week!! ;)

Just checked their site today. $1.69 for a 2 liter bottle of Pepsi. We pay $1.59at home. Not sure where you got the $3 price from. I'd check out their website.

We are very particular about groceries, so we prefer to shop ourselves. We prefer the Publix on Vineland near the Premium Outlets, which is just a few miles away. We have also shopped at the SuperTarget, which is near US192 and the 535. We don't shop at WalMart, and Winn-Dixie is nowhere near as nice as Publix and the produce there is pretty bad (we eat alot of produce).

Thanks Jean,
I just checked their prices. They are about the same as I am paying in my local grocer, in some cases, cheaper. I think I should move to FL.
