Still undecided between ME and a town car at this point. However, if I use a towncar service, and we get a 30 min stop for groceries, what do I do with them? Our plane should be arriving about noon. What if they don't have our room ready yet? How much of a pain is it to cart all the stuff to your room? Help!
I know you all have some advise for me! :cheer2:

if your room is not ready, you can store your groceries w/your luggage. when your luggage is brought to the room, the groceries will be also be brought. cold stuff will be put in the frig. we have done this many times as we are dvc members. good luck! :earboy2:

Hi tikipoo!! I have to tell you, I may appear to be a negative type person for posting....

You see, for me, I do bring snacks, treats, and *gasp my favorite liquour - to enjoy on *my* vacation.. no matter where it is I stay!! That being said, last summer I was unwilling to pay $10 a day for a frig, I brought a rolling cooler, which came in handy when we went to TL... and we went to a grocery stop, and there may have been 4 - 5 bags of groceries... and we gave them to the Polynesian people that helped unload our towncar (and I tipped him 20% too!) In our room I filled my cooler with ice each morning, and I loved my experience. I wasnt the only one at the Polynesian that had grocery bags dangling from the luggage carts either... they had a stack of them, filled I was quite comfortable and didnt feel like a "negative type person"

HTH

PS Come on October!!! :cheer2:

Why would you have to pay for a fridge? I thought they were free..... :confused3

Not last summer, that is a recent 'perk', and I suspect it has more to do with all of us filling our coolers with ice than not... :teeth:

I still would bring that rolling cooler, it was a great storage place, and was wonderful at TL for us, I not only had our bag of pretzels, sandwiches, drinks, and water over ice, but I threw in a couple of washcloths, I guess I just love the whole picnic at the beach day tho...

eeyore45,

Did you fly into Orlando? If so, did you just check your cooler as luggage? And are you saying that the CM's put you groceries in their fridge until it is time to deliver the goods?

What kind of snacks are good to have in the room. DH thought we could get some cereal. I think some drinks (since they're like $1 a piece there). What else is good? And...I guess that would mean you'd have to buy bowls and spoons too. Hmmmm...

We're heading down in 13 days (YEA!! ) and here's how we're doing it......

We're flying into Tampa, so we are renting our own car. Have a stop at Publix planned, and one of the things we're picking up is a cheap styrofoam cooler. We'll use that for the two weeks, and then toss ti before we head home. DW likes to keep a tight rein on how much soda the kids drinl, and we're not offee drinkers, so we are apassing up the refillable mugs. One case of soda, two cases of water, and a case of gatorade is on our shopping list. (The bellman at the WL will flip out when we pull up :earseek: !!!.....but I'll treat each case of bevarage as a bag when tipping.) As for snack, we're buying nothing perisable, just a couple boxes of breakfast bars and some trail mix. Don't want to snack too much between meals. Need to save room for the Mickey Bars !!! :mickeybar

Have fun everyone. Hope to see some lime green while I'm there !!

These are some great tips!

We usually stop at the grocery store on our way to the resort for soft drinks, bottled water, some fruit, and of course the inexpensive cooler......

I just love having something in the room for those late night snacks - once I'm in I tend tonot like having to go to the food court or store for a drink or snack!

I bought the rolling cooler at Sam's Club, I filled it with snacks my kids normally eat (ok, dh and I eat them too!!) pretzels, cheese (laughing cow that comes in prewrapped triangles) cereal, oh I remember honey I put it in a smaller container... things I already had and wouldnt want to "rebuy" oh, beef jerky.. bowls, napkins, spoons, cups I think, oh and Lysol wipes, our pool toys... I checked this rolling cooler - nothing perishable. I made the grocery stop and picked up water bottles, bread, pop, milk, I'm not sure what - some things were on sale.... these stayed in the grocery stops bags...

When we checked in the valet people took our luggage, put them on a luggage cart, and stated that they would indeed put the cold stuffs in the fridge... we were checked in in less than 15 minutes, with a room - so we went back to the valet stand, got our luggage tag, and they rolled it to our room. I took one of the plastic grocery bags and filled it with ice... I kept the cooler in the room, and changed the ice twice a day.

For our TL day, I loved having our sturdy rolling cooler!

On our trip home, we had a little food left, but mostly it was empty, ready to fill with souveniers!! (I threw the extra bread away, not much more than that tho, everything else found places, I tried not to overpack!)

That's a great idea! Thanks for helping me out with this. For some reason, I just couldn't picture it working. :earsgirl:
