What's the selection like for groceries at Fort Wilderness? Is it better than the selection at other Disney Hotels? Thanks

there is a grocery delivery list on the website. you can get the staples eggs, bread, milk, chips, hot dogs, coffee, breakfast sausage etc. in the trading post.

Very small selection of groceries, OP.

High prices on alcohol, wine, beer, soft drinks (think 2x what you pay at home at least).

Little to no fresh meats, vegetables. Make alternate plans for grocery delivery or have your towncar/uber ride stop while you run in with a list. They do have some fresh bananas and apples IIRC. Or drive off property to a proper grocery store.

It's the type of grocery shopping where you say, "oops, I don't have enough hamburger buns. Run up to the TP and pay $6 for a pack of buns".

I'm not familiar with the selection at other Disney hotels but since campers tend to eat more of their own cooking at Fort Wilderness, it's probably got more variety than at the hotels. But again, limited and high priced. It's the type of place to get common items to supplement what you already have - not to supply yourself as the primary source of items.

Just one man's opinion. :rolleyes1 (who does the grocery shopping and cooking at home and at the campground 90% of the time).

If you have an AP, you do get 20% off even on groceries. We ran out of bacon last trip (horror!) and rather than leaving for Publix, I think it was $6-7 for a half a pound, before discount.

I agree with PP, the prices are just silly high. For the odd "I've run out of X" it's doable. But there's no way I'd do a 'real' grocery shop at Ft W.

There are plenty of markets nearby if you don't want to order a delivery. We just make a 'loose' meal plan + a few 'extras' and do a 'big shop' the day before our arrival day. I've also done some 'batch cooking' ahead of time and then vacuum packed & frozen it (dirty rice, jambalaya, etc) ahead of time. Plunk in on the counter or the fridge in the morning and it's thawed & ready by evening. Pop in the micro & Bob's your uncle....dinner.

Can't wait for the day (probably not in my travelling future) where Canadians can take meat and veggies with them on their trips to the US - would make life so much easier than stopping at a Wal-Mart when you are have extra vehicle/towing length that needs to park and maneuver around in the parking lot when someone thinks it will be no problem if they park near your tail swing lol.

We're combined 50 ft. If we're hooked up we just park way in the back of the lot and walk. So far we've been lucky and haven't gotten blocked in. But since we drive almost 3000 miles to get WDW we normally 'stage' a night or 2 before in the in the greater Orlando area to 'recuperate' from the 7+ day drive. We unhook to do our big shop.

I know the prohibition about fresh meat & veg, but does that apply to cooked/prepped foods. I thought prepared foods were OK. I do all my batch cooking at home before we leave, vacuum pack & freeze it. It's pretty amazing what you can get into a trailer-sized fridge when it's flattened and vacuum packed.

We must have a target on our rear end because we can park in the furthest spot in the parking lot and someone always seems to want to be closeby with tons of room closer to the entrance. LOL

What about a bag of ICE? Is that available only at the Grocery at the Fort or other places? Also what is the price per bag?

In the past we have brought a small dorm fridge to keep outside for drinks, but is really awkward to store and aggravating to run a extension cord to. So this year we thought about bringing our YETI Cooler and fill with Ice as needed.

There are ice machines at every comfort station when we were last there.

They were still there in January.

Be prepared. It comes out fast, hard and in large quantity when you hit the button.

Wait, so like an ice dispenser? We've never bought ice so I haven't paid attention to the machines, but I thought they sold bags of ice.
