Grizzily River Run

I think both Kali and GRR would rank the same on the wet factor. GRR is a much longer and better ride. I wanted to point out that the DL version of Splash is a wetter ride than WDW. The first couple of riders get soaked.

I really want to take my 7yo on this ride but he's seen one similar at Silverwood and doesn't want to get wet.

I'm thinking of packing a garbage bag with head/arm cut out for this ride do you think that would help? We are going in late March so not sure how quickly he'd "dry out" :-)

Why not just bring or buy a poncho? Still won't help the legs, and if you are sitting next to the opening (where you climb in and out of the raft) you'd best tuck that poncho under the leg, but it helps keep the torso drier.

How big exactly is the drop on this ride? I want to ride it on this trip, but I'm not fond of really big drops (e.g. I won't ride Splash Mountain or TOT).

Not big at all. you can watch the last drop before even getting into line. I will warn you though...on all the downhills (hard for me to call them "drops") on the ride, you *spin*. So you never know who will end up at the bottom where the big splashes will come through. (of course, sometimes you get a big spout on the other side b/c the raft hits the water in a funny way)

2. GRR has free lockers where you can put you stow your phones and cameras and anything you want to keep dry.

Best thing!

GRR is SO much better than Kali! It's longer, it's prettier, the theme is a bit more cohesive ("there's a grizzly up there"....vs "oh no, loggers, oh let's just ignore the slash and burn loggers and pretend they never existed and finish the ride randomly"), and it's just FUN. I've never gotten off Grizzly NOT laughing, and not having bonded in some small way with the others on the ride (since we're a family of only 3, we always get put in a raft with others). Fabulous ride. Kali is just "meh" in comparison.

DH and I were both soaked on the GRR in April. Fortunately we were staying at the GCH so it was a quick trip back to our room for a complete change of clothes.

Check the seat to make sure it's dry before you sit down.

Unless you can change clothes, I wouldn't recommend wearing Levi's on the ride -- they take forever to dry.

KRR has the nice bin with a lid in the middle of the raft for keeping you personl items dry .... where as GRR does not.

GRR is lightyears ahead of Kali in terms of the fun factor. Kali's queue is the most impressive part off the ride; it's amazing really, but the ride is dull. On the other hand, GRR is totally fun, exciting, surprising, and adventurous. There are lots of twists, turns, tunnels, geyesers, falls, and real rapids. The mountain itself and the surroundings are also beautiful to look at besides ride.

I agree with 3Minnies1Mickey. It does depend on the time of year. We went in February last year and didn't hardly get wet and no one around us looked wet either. We went again in September and got soaked. My DS and I both got it really good. I was next to an opening and my DS was next to me. There is a geyser towards the end that randomly shoots up so some tubes don't even get it while others do. Well, we got it. It shot straight up and all of the water came down on my DS and I. The rest of the boat was pretty dry. If you are going in June, I am sure they will have the geyser on where they didn't have it on in February.

The geyser was defiantly going when we went last February- my DH got SOAKED by it! DD6 and I had jackets with hoods so didn't get too wet! DH however... We saw it coming and I clearing remember saying "don't worry Dear, it will go down" turns out not!

GRR is sooooo much better than Kali- we could not believe the difference! Everything about GRR was better!

I am sure everyone knows but if you get your feet over the vent holes in the bottom of the raft, alot less water will come up from below.

That bin didn't keep anything dry when we have gone on it. Well, our stuff was dry b/c it was in plastic bags, but the plastic bags were wet!

And having that huge thing in the middle of the raft (Kali's rafts are definitely bigger than Grizzly's) makes it even harder to get in and out of the ride if you're not very thin, in our experience.

We were there in Oct and GRR was our first ride of the day - so glad we had cheap ponchos with us! We were wearing shorts and sandals so we did not have trouble drying off - even early in the morning.

I still have the shirt I had to buy after riding Popeye's - we got soaked on that one!
