Have they announced the limitations for this ride yet? (Expectant mothers, back issues...by the look of the video I'm pretty sure it will be a no for me, but just wondering.)

TIA :)

So far I haven't seen anything yet. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's a no for both back problems and pregnancy. It appears to be roller coaster like but with a lap bar.

Right...and since we don't see shoulder harnesses, it doesn't go upside down. The only restriction I've seen so far is the 42" height requirement.

Same here. 42". I just did a look around online again and that's all I could find. So far though I hope we see more details soon.

This is not a slow ride, so I'm sure it will have the normal bad back, expectant mother warnings.

Pretty much any ride that has any sort of motion will have warnings for people with pre-existing conditions, pregnancy, etc. That doesn't mean it would be bad for you to ride, because there are different severities of and triggers for back problems, etc., but the parks have to put warnings on everything just in case.

I'm more concerned about size restrictions. I cannot tell if that lap restraint has one "leg" or two. I *think* each bar just has the one "leg" connecting it to the floor. Hoping against hope that that is true. Because if it's two, it means DH has to put his legs between them like on Mummy, and that has been very difficult when combined with a belly.

So difficult it's been impossible. It's what kept him off Mulholland Madness out at DCA, and it's what prevents him from riding Mummy.

So I'm hoping that it's just the one "leg".

I'm not explaining this very well, am I?

You don't have to have shoulder harnesses to go upside down. Disney has a coster that has either 1 or 2 loops and only has a lap bar (Aerosmith something). As does a ride at my local six flags (Mind Bender).

The Aerosmith ride.... RNRC has shoulder harnesses. I wouldn't ride that one if it didn't. Just a lap harness won't keep a person in if it goes upside down.

*squints at the picture* I know what you mean but the picture doesn't show it well enough to tell. Maybe a subsequent picture will be clearer.

Exactly...if a looping coaster doesn't have a shoulder harness, I'm not going on it.

I saw pictures of Mind Bender online and it does not appear to have a shoulder harness...only a lap bar...so you are correct. However...I will stand by my assertion.

Exactly...if a looping coaster doesn't have a shoulder harness, I'm not going on it. Sorry...incorrect. Looping coasters must have a shoulder harness to keep riders in the seats. RNRC does have a shoulder harness. I found some information on rcdb.com about Mind Bender: In the standard operating procedures of the Mind Bender it says there are three loops, two vertical and one horizontal at a 45 degree angle. This horizontal loop is sometimes confused for an inversion. It however does not truly flip riders upside-down so for the rcdb's purposes, it is not considered an inversion.

Unbelievably I looked it up. The Mindbender has only a lap bar and two inversions! I thought you had to have an over the was harness for loops too!

RNRC on the other has does 100% have the overhead restraints.

Crap now I'm not sure if this ride does or does not go upside down. I still think no.

Yeah I know...the only thing I can think of is the coaster safety codes have changed since 1978 when Mind Bender opened which could be why that coaster doesn't have a shoulder restraint. I still don't think EFG will have loops.

This ride does not go upside down. It only has small sections of roller coaster like travel while it goes between scenes. It does not go fast enough to do any inversions.

Yes, if the ride stops while you're inverted, you'll need those shoulder harnesses. But, assuming the ride operates as intended, centripetal acceleration will keep you in your seat, even when you're upside down.

The shoulder harness is in case of emergency. Outside of an emergency, a lap belt would suffice.

It's physics! :thumbsup2

I've ridden Flight of Fear at King's Dominion and it has only lap bars but does have inversions. They removed the over the shoulder restraints because of the head banging against them.

I rode that when it DID have shoulder restraints and yes...your head felt like an elephant was standing on it once the ride was over. Cool coaster though.
