We are planning our first trip to Orlando in October and I'm wondering what people *think* the Gringotts line might be like. DH is a huge HP fan so we will be waiting no matter what, but I'm wondering if I should book a room at one of the resorts that get early entry (we are staying on site at Disney but if it will give a huge advantage we will book a room).

Do the US hotels typically sell out? Or could I wait until closer and see what happens with the line length before booking?

We will be at US and IOA on Tuesday and Thursday and have P2P tickets.

I think the lines will still be relatively long. Especially, on Thursday as the Studios close at 5 PM for HHN. Tuesday morning may not be as bad as all Tuesday's in October are not HHN's. I would go ahead and book a room on-site as you can always cancel, but you may not get the room that you want if you wait too long. Early entry is okay, but the real perk is express pass which is offered at all on-site resorts except Cabana Bay. Keep in mind though that Express is excluded from Gringott's and Forbidden Journey. Also, Express is available from check-in to park close on check-out day.

Do you get early entry on the day you check in?

Say I book a room for Monday, October 6. Do we get EE and Express for both Oct 6 & 7? So if we arrived to the hotel at 6:30 am on Monday (and left our bags in the car or at the bell services desk)

Yes, you get EE and express on both days.

op, book now if you can as the 3 deluxe hotels do sell out for some dates in october.

i have no idea if Cbay books up as it was not opened last october.

depending on the dates you go, some wednesdays are included for HHN.

if you would book a room for a tuesday, you would have EE for that day and wednesday.

have fun planning!

Well, I really don't know what Diagon Alley and Gringotts will be like by October but I will be there too. I do know that I stayed on site for the opening of WWoHP Hogsmeade in November. I used early entry and immediately went to Forbidden Journey. The ride broke down for about twenty minutes and I was stuck in the queue outside in the "greenhouse" area for a while. We still rode and it was great.

The next day, we used our early entry and everything went right. We rode Forbidden Journey right away. We actually almost ran through the queue.

No new area or ride works flawlessly under full load. It take a while. However, weekdays are your friend. That is really what made all the difference.

Thank you for your advice. I have rearranged our days to be at Universal two days in a row and have booked a night at Royal Pacific Resort.
