Grinchmas/Macy's Parade Questions

We just made reservations for next weekend staying at HRH. I just LOVE spur of the moment trips to Universal! I'm really excited because we have never been down for Grinchmas and the other holiday festivities. We are AP holders and will have FOTL as we're at HRH. My DS10 really wants to slide down Mt. Crumpet. I would assume that FOTL doesn't apply there?? Should we make that our first priority in the morning? Also, can adults ride too or is it a kids only thing? Are there times posted anywhere for the shows/activities specific to Grinchmas?

Second, the Macy's parade: Is the route the same as Mardi Gras? Any suggestions on the best viewing points? Is there an AP parade viewing area?

Any tips or suggestions from you December veterans would be greatly appreciated.

I can't wait to go--hope it's warm enough for a swim in my favorite pool. I love listening to the underwater music at HRH.

Thanks for your help.

I don't know about the adults riding with older kids. I know that I've seen adults riding with younger kids. Hours are posted at the stage and they are on the flyer that you pick up at the gate. The parade route for Macy's parade is the same as this years MG parade.

I was there on 12/3 and went on Mt. Crumpit at like 12:30 with only like a 5 minute wait. Don't remember if there was a FOTL since it was not necessary at that time. Also, it was myself and my friend who rode together (both of us are 23) but then again it was not busy at all so they were not turning down any of the adults who wanted to ride.

Honestly, it was not that great. It was like sledding on a really bad hill when it is icy. If it was taller, it would be much better but since it is technically for kids, it may be better for them. I would not wait for it if the line is over 10 minutes.

Also, if you plan on going into the Grinch's Lair, do it when there is no line. That is an extremely loud place and rather annoying if you are standing there with kids playing with the extremely loud air tanks blowing them on you while you stand there for 10 mintues without moving. It is a really good Grinch, but again, not worth the headache of standing in line for over 10 minutes.

MotherFletcher--

What dates are your HRH reservations for? I have been trying to add Sat 12/20 to our reservation (12/21-12/23) and have been told there is no availabilty. What are your dates and rate? I too am AP. Thanks.

I'll be there next weekend too. I'm trying to get ressies but BE A STAR is having computer problems.
We went the 29th and Crumpet was about 5 minutes. The age limit is supposed to be 9 but my 10 & 15 yo did it no problems. In fact there were lots of adults going down.
You might consider the Grinch storytelling at Portofino.

OOOPS!!:upsidedow Thanks for the reply MotherFLetcher--but I guess I really wanted to direct my question to Figment22. You guys look alike if you know what I mean. So...

I'm-
There isn't availibility at HRH for APH. I'm trying RPR but it looks like they do not have 2 queens. I might get stuck in PBH.

MotherFletcher

Could you keep me posted on your efforts? I think I would like to spend a night at PBH before moving over to HRH on 12/21. We are also looking for 2 queens. I have not booked through BEASTAR before, how does it work? Thanks.

I just checked the Loew's website and PBH is available at $169 for Sat. ($20 more because it is a weekend). You can also get it thru www.universalorlando.com. I am staying at the Rosen Plaza Saturday night because we will be at Seaworld.

Our HRH ressies are for 12/18 thru 12/21. I could not get an AP rate. I booked through hotelkingdom.com at a rate of $167.20 per nite. Not particularly cheap but we really wanted to stay at HRH again and figured FOTL might be necessary as we got closer to Christmas. Hotel Kingdom also has RPR at $157.50 per night.
I didn't make note of the PBH rates. They also have immediate confirmation on these hotels so you won't wait 24 hours to find out if you've got a room or not. I booked yesterday. (12/11)
Hope this helps.

Thank you MotherFletcher and Figment22. I will keep trying. Our rate for 12/21-12/23 at HRH is $135. We are booked offsite for 12/20 because we thought we would not be arriving in Orlando until midnight and hit the parks the morning of the 21st. I reserved a room through hotelkingdom for $38. Now it looks like we'll be arriving late afternoon on 12/20. It may be difficult to convince DH to give up the $38 room in favor of an extra night on site, but I will give it my best shot.

Congrats! I am trying to plan a quick Universal trip. Those can be great too!
