Cast of Characters:

Myself - 35 year old single gal who's losing my patience
Jane Smith - 62 year old who wants to make my life miserable

Day 4 found me waking around 7am, even when I tried I just could not sleep in. I think this was due to me being used to getting up for work. Jane Smith just could not believe that I get up so early, all she wanted to do was sleep. Well go right ahead, I'm not going to cry about it. My luck didn't last though and soon she was up and ready for her free breakfast. After a leisurly breakfast I got Jane moving and ready to take off for MGM. I was quite proud of myself, we arrived shortly after 9am. I just love this park so much, probably because my favorite ride is Tower of Terror (it's that devious side of me). We walked around the streets a bit and poked into the stores, but I made my way immediately to Tower of Terror. Jane actually went in with me, but was becoming quite panicked that she would "accidentally" get put on the ride. I kept telling her not to worry as there is a chicken exit, for some reason she wasn't buying it. The wait was hardly anything, so I was able to get on fairly quickly. I enjoyed the ride tremendously, but the sequence I got was not the greatest, so I knew I would be doing it again. Jane was standing waiting for me with her pouty look, so I suggested we start walking around the park. We were headed for Rock n roller coaster, when I decided to get a fast pass for later for Tower of Terror. This is where Jane actually showed some kindness, she used her ticket to get me a fast pass as well. So in another hour and a half I could ride two times right in a row! I headed toward Rock N Roller Coaster to see how long the wait was. It was 10 minutes, so no problem there. The first time I rode this I was not that crazy about it, so I wanted to give it another try. You see, I live very close to Cedar Point, which in my opinion has the best coasters around, so it's hard to compare others. Jane also went in with me but started getting panicked again that she would be put on the ride. I boarded and turned around to see Jane, but she was gone. I did like this ride a bit better, but it's still not my favorite. I know a lot of people say it is very smooth, but I don't agree. Both times I have ridden it my head has bounced all over the place. So what's next to tackle? Well we walked around a bit and saw all the characters, but I didn't stop for pictures as the lines were pretty long. We headed for the backlot tour, but got sidetracked when I saw Donald and Daisy duck. Donald is one of my favorites next to the Pooh characters. There was only one person ahead of us, so this was a no brainer to wait. Donald teased me about my pal Mickey and wanted me to take him out of the picture, but I just said that he's strapped onto my belt and I can't. I was ready to leave when Jane said she wanted a picture taken, I was shocked, I never would have thought she would want to get a picture taken with characters. Back on track we headed for the Backlot Tour. There was hardly any wait, so we stood and watched the pre-show on the tv monitors. I knew immediately that trouble was brewing, a mom that was directly behind us was being pretty loud with her children (granted I found it annoying, but would never had said anything) but we all know Jane by now and this is not how she operates. She had to keep making snide remarks, so again I was embarassed. The water part of the show was cut short due to the temperature, so we boarded the trams quickly. Jane ended up on the left side of the tram, which I knew was where the water comes from, inside I was chuckling. When we got to catastrophe canyon Jane started to panic that she was going to get wet, she didn't like the tram rocking, etc. I just sat there and smiled. So with that ordeal done we were headed back towards the loading gate. I did get to see the stadium for the new stunt show and it looks amazing, another reason I need to come back soon. By this time my fast passes were available for Tower of Terror, so I started walking towards Hollywood Blvd. Jane was already tired and said she would not be coming with me. Jane was hungry, so I told her to go to 50s Prime Time and see if she could get a table. It was only 11:30, so I was hopeful that it wouldn't be too bad. We had PS for 4:00pm, but I was seriously contemplating getting the Fantasmic package because I knew Jane would never be able to stand in line for it. So off I went to Tower of Terror and I was so happy, I got one of the really good sequences, I got off and immediately went back on, oh the fun! I then headed towards 50s Prime Time, knowing that my bit of freedom was almost over. Jane had put our names in and we got called within 5 minutes of me arriving. I enjoyed the lunch, I had the fried chicken. I was a bit disappointed though, as our server really did not get into the act too much, but maybe that was a good thing, as Jane would have none of that any way. As we were leaving I suggested that we check out Hollywood and Vine and see if they had any openings for the Fantasmic package. I was a bit leary of Hollywood and Vine, as I had read some not great comments about it, but it was Fantasmic that I really wanted to see, I got lucky and they had a 5:10 opening available. I told Jane that we would have to watch and not eat anything so that we would have an appetite for dinner. We walked around a few of the stores and I bought myself an Eyore charm for my nomination bracelet. By this time it was time for Beauty and the Beast, one of the shows I was looking most forward to. I love musicals and this is one of my favorites. I picked a nice spot that of course Jane didn't like, so she sat in the sun down from me. Right when the show started, a mom and her son came and sat between Jane and I, I was so embarassed as Jane would not move an inch to give the mom some room, she just sat there oblivious to it. I was really liking the show when Jane commented that this show is violent. I looked at her sort of strangely and said well it's exactly like the movie and musical, no go, it was plain violent and she didn't like it. After some shopping it was time for another ride, so we headed towards the Great Movie Ride. The wait was about 20 minutes for this, but it seemed to have gone quickly. It was fun, but the two characters were just sort of ok, I remember my first ride having been better. Jane didn't like it as it was scary during the Alien scene, oh well, too bad. After that I suggested we walk towards Star Tours, as I had not really seen that area of the park. Well Jane was getting hungry and just had to have some popcorn, you see a pattern here? We walked by Star Tours, but I decided against going on it, as I don't seem to do well with motion simulators and I not a big Star Wars fan. But I did want to see the Muppets. I tried to look for the key, but I think we were rushed in, so I never had a chance to really look. I enjoyed the show, how can you say anything bad about the muppets? Jane was not too impressed, she said the 3-D effects were not that great. I tried to explain that this was a bit of an older show, she just sort of shook her head. While we were in the area, I had to poke my head into the Sci Fi Drive-In, that looked really cool and I'll have to try it on my next trip. It was about 2:30, so I suggested we find a spot for the parade, so we walked back past Star Tours but the benches were all full already. I found a great spot on a ledge near the Drew Carey show. I was quite happy with my selection. We sat next to a really nice couple with two little girls. Of course I was a bit worried as I know how Jane is around kids. She was actually fine with them, BUT when a little boy came on the other side, that was not a good scene. He was a bit wild and Jane really didn't like that, so of course she had to be vocal about it. The next crisis was a lady smoking next to us. Ok, granted I'm not a fan of cigarette smoke, BUT, I am not going to be rude about it either. Of course Jane had to be and went to find a cast member. Well the cast member came over to say something to the offender and she got a little upset, so Jane had to open her mouth and say something to the effect that she shouldn't have to be subjected to her nasty habit, mortified again! The parade finally started and I let my worries go away. Once the parade was done I figured out we had time to do Who Wants to Be A Millionaire. Again, this was something I had not done on my first trip, so I was happy to be able to get to see it. Jane actually enjoyed this, surprise, surprise. After we were done there we hit a few stores again, just wasting some time until our dinner reservations. Got to Hollywood and Vine and we were seated promptly. I have to say I was really pleasantly surprised, I loved the food and would go back in a minute. By the time we finished it was about 6:15, so almost time to get to the theater for Fantasmic. I had to stop in one store, so I sat Jane down. I came back a few minutes later and said that I wanted to go to a store across the street, I got a big NO!!!! I guess some child was behind her having a temper tantrum and she just could not handle it, you know I'm sorry, when you go to Disney kids are a factor and you just deal with it. So it was off to Fantasmic, of course the walk was way too long for Jane and there were complaints the entire way, I just shook my head. Our seats were not bad, sort of towards the top because I wanted to be able to get out of there quickly. I enjoyed the show, but not as much as some people rave. I was in awe of the special effects, but I guess maybe I just didn't get the entire story line to it. Jane, disliked it completely. So we headed back to the hotel, but in my eyes it was still early. Earlier that day I had decided that the following day I would return to Magic Kingdom instead of doing Universal, as I felt I just didn't get to see everything I wanted to and I had been to Universal numerous times. So on the way back to the hotel I decided that I would not sit in the room for another night, but would go to City Walk to get my pin from Hard Rock. Jane was none too happy about this, saying it's not safe for me to go alone and when would I be back. I told her I was going and I didn't know when I would be back, so I left her sitting in the room pouting. It was so nice to have freedom again. I enjoyed walking around City Walk and just people watching. I did go to Hard Rock and got my pins and also called my mom for a chat. I then took a drive around, not really going anywhere in particular, just not wanting to go back to the room. I finally did make my way back to the hotel and Jane was fast asleep. I laid out my clothes for the next day and packed up my stuff since we would be moving to the Dolphin in the morning.

Up next Day 5, I'm going to ring her neck!

OMG, my dead grandmother has been resurrected!!!! I swear this Jane Smith sounds like she and my grandmother were long lost twins.

I am sorry you had such a :crazy2: travel-mate, but I am loving your trip report! Sorry to chuckle so much at your expense. Can't wait to hear more.

I'm loving your trip report but am sorry that you didn't really have someone to share the fun with. Were the two of you very good friends prior to the trip? Had you spent much time outside of church together? You just seem like complete opposites. Hope the trip gets better. :)

I'm glad everyone is enjoying my reports. Now I can look back at it and chuckle, granted at the time I certainly couldn't. I thought I knew this person pretty well, worked with her on projects at church, etc. But, I guess I never paid attention to some signs I should have. It's going to be difficult seeing her at church now, as I have a lot of animosity towards her, but she has no idea that I feel this way.

Thanks for your reports...these are great but I'm sad for the way your trip went. Looking forward to the rest!

How could someone be so negative about so much! Did you know her well before the trip? I'm so sorry you had to deal with her, next time call me :cool1: ...I love disney and would be a blast to be with!

Is she the most miserable person or what? You are a lot nicer than me. I would have told her flat out about her behavior. Either lighten up or your on your own. Don't have the time or energy for people like that.

God bless you..... I would have told her off by this time... You are definately a saint!!!!!

My last trip I had several situations with a much younger, male version of this travel companion who was on my trip. Afterwards I was in a similar state of animosity. I then heard a sermon on forgiveness which opened my eyes that having animosity for someone is just as harmful to you as to them. Since it is unlikely that she will ever change and you will certainly not travel with her ever again for your own sake, I would say to forgive her," kiss her up to God " as they say and let go of your animosity. I am so sorry that she has been such a thorn on what should have been a joyfull experience, but she is really the only one she hurts by being that way. Bless you for your patience and for the fact that she has no idea of your feelings. I hope that your next trip more than makkes up for this one. I am in complete sympathy with you and hope that you have enough happy memories to compensate for the trouble!
