What do you put on yours? We are going to have them tomorrow night. Do you marinate them in anything? Was going to do chicken and maybe get some shrimp and scallops and do a seafood one. Was thinking mushrooms, green and red peppers, onions...any other ideas???

What else do you have for sides?

we always do fruit kabobs for deserts at bbqs,, today we did fresh pineapple, and apple quarters tossed in honey brown sugar, cinnamon and nuttmeg, then grilled till apples were slightly soft,, used a whole pineapple and 5 big granny smith apples, there are 2 bites of apple left..lol..

I've seen this grilled pineapple mentioned quite a few times in the last couple days here. I think I'm going to have to try that!

We like to marinade beef tips in a sauce that my husband gets (I have no idea what it is and we don't have any right now, but it's a bottled mix), we then do peppers, onions, and DH also adds tomatoes and mushrooms to his (the rest of us don't eat either of these). They're awesome! Next time he picks that up, I'm going to have to write it down.

We also do BBQ shrimp on skewers, but we also do grilled shrimp with bacon. I don't eat the bacon, but it's a good flavoring.

The ones my family typically does have steak, baby potatoes, red & green bell pepper, mushrooms, onions...and I think that's it. The steak is marinated mostly in soy sauce w/ a little bit of Italian dressing. For sides, we'll usually have rice pilaf and a salad or something.

A couple of summers ago, I was on a marketing tour for (among other things) McCormick Grill Mates marinades. My then-BF and I discovered that their Spicy Caribbean 30-minute marinade (contains spices like cinnamon, allspice, red & black pepper, and thyme) is fantastic on grilled shrimp. We used less water than the recipe called for and added a bit of lime juice and didn't marinate the shrimp for the full 30 minutes and it was soooo good. I don't remember what we had for sides; IIRC, we gorged ourselves on the shrimp and that was enough. :teeth:

I did chicken, mushrooms and pineapples last week marinated in orange juice with a splash of soy sauce.

YUM YUM YUM

Thinking of doing beef, mushrooms and cherry tomato this week.

We did them on Friday night and Saturday night  I have never done seafood ones, but I have done beef and chicken. If you like pineapple put some fresh pineapple on one with some meat it is divine :cloud9: Here each kebob is tailored to a persons liking. I always like to season my meat. If I’m having chicken I use a teriyaki marinade on it (for about a half hour with tin foil over it in the fridge). On the kebab in addition to pineapple and meat I love onions and peppers (both red and green), and sometimes small red or yukon gold potatos.

For sides last night we did bake potatos with a topping bar and on Friday we had those Alexa brand steak potatos with fresh bread. Sesame green beans are also really tasty with kebabs.
