We will be at OKW in a 2bdr at the beginning of June. We want to save on the cost of eating out but still have some good meals. The member book indicates that BBQ Grills are available. Has anyone out there ever used them? Are they gas grills or do you need to bring charcoal? Are they clean? Do you need to bring all the necessary 'grilling tools'? Are there many of them? Do we need to request a certain building to be close to one.

There are several grills by each quiet pool. There are picnic tables also. The ones by Turtle Pond are covered but I don't think the other two locations are. They are heavy duty grills using charcoal. They are the type with the large pipes that fold up for cleaning with the spring type handles, must like at many rest areas and parks that I've seen. They are usually cleaned every day at least and I think there's a brush to do touchup. Just get some match light type charcoal and you should have no problem.

Dean just about sums everything up but I do take issue with them being cleaned everyday. I sat at a table by a pool one day that had not been cleaned in weeks. I used pool towels to cover the table, other guests did the same. They should be cleaned everyday but I have big time reservations about what Dean said concerning their cleaning. I have stayed at resorts where the pool furniture is cleaned and brushed with a detergent everyday, all they do at OKW is put them in place to start the day at the end of the day. No cleaning, so I doubt the grills get cleaned.

I don't know about the tables but everytime I've been there the grills have been cleaned at least once a day if not more. Remember that cleaning a BBQ grill does not mean sanitizing it. It's simply removing the ashes and hitting it a few licks with a wire brush.

Dean may be right. We have no life guards at OKW, if we did their job would be to clean the pool furniture as it is in most places. Since the grills are near the pools I assumed they never got cleaned much. I might be wrong. I am sure cleaning the grills would be part of the life guards job if we had them.
