I have an eye round roast that I would like to grill (on a gas grill), it is about 3 and 1/2 pounds. Can anyone tell me the best way to grill it and for how long?
I usually salt and pepper it, maybe put a marinade of some kind on it. Then I put it directly on the hottest part of the fire, turning it to get it very browned on all sides, and the ends. Once it's browned I will wrap it in tin foil and keep it over low heat, turning every 15 minutes or so. It could take an hour to an hour and a half depending upon how you like your meat cooked.
What I usually do is slice it into steaks. If you check the grocery store Eye Round Roast is way cheaper than buying the individual steaks and it is exactly the same meat.
If you want to leave it as a roast for presentation purposes, what type of grill do you have? Charcoal or Gas? It makes a huge difference.
I just put mine on the rack in my Farberware roasting pan and put the pan on the cooking grate in the (gas) grill. I cook it the same as in the oven - 30 minutes per pound. Sure beats heating up the kitchen!
