Don't skip into the story...Day 2 is here

Our first day at sea!!! That means we get to sleep in!...well actually no...remember I booked hair braiding appointments for my girls at 9am( seemed like a good idea at the time ) DW had been dying to have breakfast out on our verandah and the night before I luckily remembered to put our breakfast order on the door. ( Just as a side note...as part of my packing preperations I had began saving one dollar bills and putting them aside in a baggie...then i kept that baggie handy during the cruise...made for really easy tipping ). It was defintely relaxing to just sit and and eat unhurried and enjoying the ocean pass by. While eating breakfast I saw a truly interesting sight. It appeared that a bird was diving into the water. After a little consideration I realized that we were out at sea and unless the magic carried their own private diving bird collection that what I was seeing was a flying fish. Sure enough after watching for a bit I could see more of them leaping from the wake of the ship and floating through the air and then diving back into the water. I felt like I was watching the nature channel. It was really cool. After finishing up our breakfast and watching the "Flying Fish Follies" it was up to Deck 9 Goofy Pool for hair braiding. DD7 was getting just the top of her head..while DD13 wanted the "full" head. DD7 only took about 1/2 hour. DD13 however would end up taking a full 2 hours. We waited for DD7. For DD13 it was "heres your room key and heres a talkabout...see ya!". While DD13 was getting her scalped pulled on so hard that her toes tingled, DD7 wanted to hang out at the Mickey Pool. For those of us who didnt want to get up at 5:30 am and get poolside chairs, it was up to Deck 10
to find a spot. I'm not really a hang out and roast in the sun kind of guy...but I decided to hang out and talk with DW for a bit and enjoy the veiw of the ocean. I still can't get over how blue the ocean is. The 4 day wonder cruise we went on didnt have a day at sea...so this was all new to me. The ocean was BLUE..i mean like crayon or cartoon blue. I'm from the northeast and we have puke green for our ocean color...this was incredible. Since I was lounging in the sun..I browsed through the navigator for the day and saw a "vegtable derby" down in the promenade lounge. DD7 and I decided to take a walk down and check it out. Hmmm make a racing car from a potato, carrot and wheels and pin..and oh yeah heres a nice sharp knife to help you( guess dad has to help a bit ). A little side note...I was in the cub scouts when I was a boy..for about a year..and didnt stick with it...so i wasnt into the whole make your own car and race it stuff. Being the father of girls I havent had that opportunity either( dont blame me girl scouts dont do it ) So I was unprepared. DD13 finished up here hair appointment and joined us. We had about 15 minutes to put our "car" together. Well we did okay...our car was called the "castaway carrot". But apparently most of the dad's there were able to actually carve a car out of a potato....we were just out classed
After our defeat it was back up to get DW and grab some lunch at topsiders. DD7 hadn't checked into any of the kids club activities yet...but really wanted to try out the "how to be a pirate" activity. Dad however saw that there was beer tasting going on in Diversions so slunk on down to deck 3. Hmmmm beer
Theres something that is just so right about being required to drink a certain amount of beer...( but honey I had to drink the beer it was part of the ..you know ..activity.. ) Feeling comfortably relaxed it was time to go collect DD7 from her pirate experience. Her response to being picked up was "But I don't want to go..there going to play a game." Guess she enjoyed herself. Now I have heard that many other cruise lines have really good kids programs...now not to be too biased...but HOW can you even compare to Captain Hook showing up at your activity to play with you?!?! Eye patch in hand it was off to our next adventure. The rest of the family wanted to experience "Bingo Love" for themselves so off to Rockin Bar D. For some reason when you pay for 4 people to experience "Bingo Love" it quickly turns into "Bingo Lust" which then turns into "Bingo Envy". After I got my bill for the week I wanted to spread "Bingo Love" with a "Bingo Bat". Well the important thing is we all had fun...right..right ..no really its all about the fun
It being formal night we decided to get ready a bit early since we knew we'd like to get some pictures earlier in the evening before it became to crazy. Lumieres is not really my favorite of the three..but the food was great. Deepak promised "A Most Excellent Menu" (you have to read this with an Indian accent to get the full effect ). I could really get used to having drinks before the meal..and then appetizers etc. And I'm sure the girls wouldn't mind having smoothies everynight either...I dont think I realized I was giving my kids icecream before dinner until the last night...I assumed they were fruit...but I guess I did't reason it out...after all what kind of fruit does a chocolate smoothie come from?( the answer to this would of course be a truly wonderful magical fruit...mmmm could you imagine ...sorry im drifiting ). Being more than stuffed( I think I was around pound number 5 gained for the week ) it was off to the Golden Mickeys. What a truly great show. When I was on the wonder they had some original production about some ghost pirate ship...The Golden Mickeys replaced this I guess...great move. Disney should stick with what they do best...and they have a great wealth of thier own musicals to choose from. Dancing, Singing, Characters...it was great..After the show it was back out to the atrium to see some more characters and a few more pictures.( Another side note...heres something the cruise seems to do alot better than the parks. While it can be hard to get autographs sometimes...the character interactions are fantastic. They are much more animated and personable. I don't know who does these but they are great and if any CM ever read this I would say make sure they never change it...it truly makes the cruise special and magical...to be played with by donald or stitch..or to be hugged and held by belle....wow...very very impressive ). Sadly its time for bed...its been a wonderful full day..but boy it sure is easy to get tired..and we have an excursion to get up for so back up to bed. Though I neglected to mention this in my previous post we are treated to another towel animal...and to our surprise a couple of special moments pins saying enjoy your honeymoon. uhhh...honey what did you do while I was at beer tasting?...turned out to be a mistake.. talked with guest services...and they had us flagged as a honeymoon couple.....i was worred that they had mistaken us with someone else and that they werent getting their magical attention. So no magical moment for us.....but there would be..but thats another day....once again its the soft gentle rocking of the ship and sweet sleep.
next up Day 4 Grand Cayman and the Stingrays!!
