It is absolutely beautiful weather here today (85) and things have certainly changed since we cruised two years ago. Security is very high including a sniffing dog at the entrance to Mickey's Ears as you board the ship. The line for secuity onto the ship wasn't too bad because we were early in line but other cruisers have told me they waited in the "ears tunnel" over an hour yesterday to clear security to board. Couldn't get anywhere in Atlantis today. We had heard on these boards previously that you could taxi over and then just walk the grounds as guests but there was NO WAY today. Guards at every door to the outside of the hotel. We could go in the actual hotel but couldnt get anywhere else. SOOOOO -- if you aren't doing the Atlantis Beach Day or the Atlantis Aquarium with Disney, don't count on getting anywhere on the property. It was kind of a waste of the 30+ dollars in taxi fees since we couldnt' see anything. Beautiful weather though so you can't beat that. If you have questions, I'll be checking this often as the "DD - 17" must communicate with other teens from home to make sure life is still existing without them there. Triton's last night was wonderful -- beef tenderloin was superb -- extremely tender. Hakem our server is very conscientious and considerate. My DS-10 loved the Oceaneers Club last night -- met a little girl who he couldn't leave even for dinner and told me he would "order room service" when he left. Let me know if you have any questions. So far -- nice vacation away -- at least I'm not home doing laundry!!!

I decided to book a room at the Atlantis in order to use the facilities. Do you think $340 (including taxes) is worth it for a family of five? It would have cost me $245 just to do the Disney excursion and the kids (ages 9, 7 & 4) could not use the slides or pools. I would appreciate your honest opinion.

I will be in your shoes in less then 13 days!

I hope you are having a blast!

Did you try the comfort suites that is right across the street and gives all the privileges of the pools, beach, etc? I did for this week but it was sold out way back last August. IF your kids would really enjoy all the Atlantis annemities, it's well worth the wonderful surroundings and great day. We spent the day there two years ago and my kids loved it. They were so sad they couldn't even walk the grounds today. It IS expensive so consider highly if your kids are really water slide, aquarium, beach type kids AND if they like lots of walking. It's a huge site not including the walking from the water taxi launch to the hotel. Hope this helps.

The Comfort Suites actually cost more. I was quoted a rate of $270 per night and I got Atlantis for $265 (not including taxes). We have never been to Atlantis, but my kid's favorite park at WDW is Typhoon Lagoon. My kids are wild about water slides. It sounds like Atlantis will be a great time for them. Thank you for the information.
