I don't rent out...usually I use every point I have
I would, however, like to have the option to obtain more than one transfer per year
for my own use.
I am planning to take my in-laws along with my husband's brother/wife in June 2007 and am going to be about 150 points short. My plan originally had been to accumulate them in about 50 point blocks between now and my 7 month booking window for a non-home resort (OKW) so that it would be more affordable. Now I will have to look for the entire amount I need and possibly have to take more than I need due to the rule enforcement.
With use of modifiers in the computer system, it would be easy to identify the points for these types of transfers as ones that would be required to be used to make a reservation only in the
DVC members name. Come to think of it, modifiers would be an excellent way of tagging transferred points to keep them from "morphing" resorts and use years. We do this for medical coding and billing and it works very well.
I think that a better interpretation of the rule (which the first time I read it I thought that it meant) would be to allow you to
either transfer in or transfer out in a particular use year and limit the transfers to 3. This would allow the average DVC owner to either dispose of their points for a particular use year if they were not going to use them or to accumulate the points necessary to plan a family gathering.
I am in favor of Member Services getting the software upgrades that they need to fix the point morphing problem instead of punishing the average DVC member for the actions of a few profiteers out there.
This is a classic case of punishing everyone instead of taking action against the offenders
Offenders would be easy to identify just by doing a simple query on the computer system
