greenban EXCLUSIVE: AKL DETAILS

funny all this hype and some felt it will be a flop. It took months to get this much energy and discussion about SSR.

Pat, there are 5 DVC seasons, not 6, I'm sure you had a typo.

AKL comes with its own built in hype and a very large fanbase which is why we are so excited to be adding on there. We are huge AKL lovers and I think that is why the energy around VAKL is so super high. Tons of people love AKL. SSR was just a concept in the beginning. No one knew what it could possibly turn out to be because it wasn't attached to a hotel that had a fan base. No one had a living, functioning visual. Just artist renderings.

Now that it is almost fully realized and has been experienced by many, affection for SSR has grown by leaps and bounds.:goodvibes

Does anyone have any information about current Disney Financing? Rate? Length of term? When payments will begin for AKV?
We have no experience with this.

I don't think any points have been "commited" to members. I am sure it will be FCFS. I did tell my guide I was interested in being a "Founding member" and she promised I would be one of the 1st people she call on Thursday AM.:cool1:

Correct, my guide did state that it was FCFS but said that she would be e-mailing in her purchases at midnight to insure that we would be Founding Members is we so choose. Sooooo, if it is important to you verify when your guide will be placing you purchase.

The longest length of term is ten years at over 9%. You can also finance for 5 years or one year. The rates drop the shorter the length of term. First pay would be due in october as the resort won't be open until september according to my guide. There is no penalty for early pay off.

Thank you, I'm forwarding this info to DH.

I was told that they can't send it in until 8:00am.

And of course, I wasn't among the DVC member party at the time. Not that I have much influence but I'm heaped in karma. :goodvibes

Seriously, for all the bashing SSR got around these parts, one has to wonder what OKW would have seen if there had been a thriving forum before it opened. Goodness, Disney jumps the timeshare bandwagon and builds a hick resort in nowheresville?

Well I suppose another question...if you don't finance, do you pay the whole amount after the 30 days or whatever, even if the resort isn't opened?

Does that mean she took all of your info and your deposit now?

My guide could not even talk to me about it, never mind start the purchase agreement. I hope some guides are not cutting the line, so to say.

Greenban,

Any word on when we might see proposed floorplans for the units? I'd sorta think they mgiht be "out there" by the time the points go on sale....and I'd love to see 'em!

:)

Thanks for all the great info!

There were 2 floor plans in the recorded Declaration of Condominium for AKV for the phase to built on the 5th floor of the existing lodge. One looked like a studio and the other looked like 2 adjoining studios. They appeared to be about 13 x 34 feet and 26 X 34 ft. Neither showed furniture palcement but each showed a kitchenette across from the entrance to the bathroom. Bathrooms had 2 sinks, toilet and tub.

Some have recently suggested that AKL was the worst location on property and not of high demand. My post was in response to that and to a degree, to needle a few of them a bit in a hopefully good natured way.

Just checked, my guide will not be in until Friday.

So now I can't get my name on the rug or nuttin....

< walks away with head hung low, and 16k in pocket >

The good news is, that now since I won't be able to get my name on the rug, I have realized that other then some animals to look at (and smell), the area really doesn't have much to offer (for me atleast)

Maybe now, but after Disney develops the Western Beltway entrance AKL/AKV will become very attractive resorts. One other bonus, both resorts are right next to Animal Kingdom theme park.

I agree 100%, I was being sarcasitic with my post.

AK is a wonderful location. Anytime you can walk to a park you have a GREAT location.

AK will be very much in demand.

Mark my words over the course of the comig years we will read many many many post from people whoown at larger, less popular resorts asking if folks think they will be able to get into AK at the 7 mth window.

Dean, you are ahead of the curve. THe place opens 9/1 right? Bashing threads will start 9/2.:rotfl2: As I keep telling those SSR owners, take heart you are getting ready to discover you have the best resort on property! :wizard:

(And just two notes. 1. As of right now you can't easily walk to AK from the Lodge, maybe that's going to change? 2. In several stays at AK I have never "smelled" an animal.... a guest in need of a shower has been smelled at all parks/hotels!)

Since my guide is out of the office until Feb. 5, I appreciate this information. This may sound silly, but when would the interest start accruing? As soon as the purchase closes or in September/October?

You are aware that one CANNOT walk to a theme park from ALK/AKV, right?

And there will also be many, many, many people who don't care about it. Funny how that works.

When it comes to the Internet, everyone has an equal voice. Individual voices rarely carry much weight. If a dozen people posted about how good (or bad) of a concept AKV is, you know what it would mean? Well, it would mean that a dozen people loved (or hated) the idea. Nothing more.

It's foolish to think there will every be universal agreement on ANY topic.

I think it is safe to assume that all of us here at the DISboards (including WMD) like frogs! Right?!?

I mean, who doesn't like frogs?
