I'm sure people know what I mean by this, you know that big 'ol green ham building that's in Suessland that seems to always be closed. My question is, does anyone know when did they close it and why do they not try to utilize it at all?

I ask, because a friend of mine claims when it first opened (the park itself) she does remember eating there, but the first time I've been there 2003 as far as I remember it seemed closed (it was in Nov) and when I finally got a pass for the first time in 2007 since then I definitely know it was never opened any of the times I've been to the park.

Your friend is correct. I made my dad eat there when it first opened. He had Green Eggs and Ham sandwich. It was pretty awful.

We've gone three times in 4 years and it has never been open. Doesn't sound like we're missing anything. Prime real estate going unused is senseless.

I've finally did a little bit of research and the last time I can hear anything of it being opened was 2014. I am very shocked!

I didn't find much. I decided to look up the menu, which I found to be last updated in 2014. Then when I went to another website about the restaurant there were comments about the experience, which there were only a couple, and they were listed as being posted 2014. And @Costumesaremylife it appears your father isn't the only one who thought the sandwich wasn't good. One of the comments did say the sandwich you speak of was terrible. They only had a few items on their menu from what it appeared (and I really do mean a few) and if the one unique thing to that place is terrible, it's no wonder why it's not utilized.

It was open when we were there last year and definitely the year before too.........

We took a picture of it and the TM's posed rather humorously for us........so it's definitely been open after 2014.

WOW! I guess there's a reason why on the app it says times may vary and to ask guest services for details. I just thought it was put their as a general statement to keep the idea of it all open. Around what time were those times? I'm so intrigued since whenever I've had an AP whether in the past, or present, I make sure to go very often and yet never seen it open once.

Usually September/October but we have seen it open in other visits too.

I guess I just have terrible timing? It's not as if it's a needed visit. However, the fact that I've never seen it open made me curious and wanted to ask. Sept/Oct seems like an interesting choice of timing, as I would imagine the good time to open it would be peak seasons to ease the crowd of other restaurants and give guests another place to go to. Not like it would help a lot as there isn't too much outside seating, but still.

I've been going to IoA since before it opened (Like most things in Florida, they had preview soft-openings for quite some time before the "Grand" Opening)

That said, yes, it was open regularly for the first few years, then it closed mysteriously a few years in. I've heard stories/rumors about it re-opening during peak times of year, but I personally haven't seen it open in... probably 10+ years.

I ate there many times, because I personally loved the place. There was no better breakfast to start my day at IoA, in my opinion.

The Green Eggs and Hamwich was the main attraction, but I believe there were also burgers and chicken strips (same as you might find at other Universal quick-services.)

Someone earlier compared the Green Eggs and Hamwich to an Egg McMuffin, but I personally always found Burger King's Croissanwich to be its closest cousin. The meat and eggs were of a similar consistency, the only difference was it was on a sesame seed bun instead of a croissant (which I admit, doesn't sound as good, but surprisingly was). Anyway, it was a ham, egg & cheese breakfast sandwich. If you like Egg McMuffins or Ham Croissanwiches, you'd have liked it. If you don't, you probably wouldn't. If you want to try something similar, go to Burger King and get a croissanwich, it's close enough to give you the right impression, imo (Ham, obviously, not bacon or sausage). (Better yet, custom order a croissanwich on a sesame seed bun if they let you, that's basically the same thing).

The eggs seemed like genuine scrambled eggs, not prefab, albeit with green food coloring. I could see where perhaps some people may have been grossed out by the color, as it wasn't an appealing shade of green at all. I could also see where it might trick someone into finding it unappetizing on sight alone. But color aside, I always thought they tasted top-notch, as breakfast sandwiches go.

The fries were also pretty tasty seasoned fries.

I frankly long for that restaurant to re-open.

I used to eat there every time I went back when the park first opened but It's been closed on my visits for several years now. It was just an egg and cheese on a croissant. How can that be bad?
