Well we had a great weekend in Manchester.

DH loved Green Day - I am sure he will report later :) We also had a great dinner in the Hard Rock Cafe - yum - don't you just love the Huricanes :drinking1

We also managed to snag some tickets for the Cirque show Saltimbanco at the trafford centre! I really enjoyed this although DH wasn't as keen.

All in all we had a lovely weekend in Manchester...I didn't do much shopping honest :)

All you Green Day fans need wait no longer :teeth:

To some the gig up in one word I would have to say it was fantastic.

The support act were New Found Glory and they were really full of energy. Although I had heard of them before the gig and had listened to a couple of their tracks that I had managed to find on the web, I wasn't really sure what to expect. The music they played turned out to be a lot heavier than Green Day and the couple of excerpts I had heard. The guitars were really distorted and the lead singer was maxing out his vocal chords on all the tracks. The band were also running and jumping around the stage and on odd occasions into the crowd for about 40 minutes. It was fun to watch and get involved with and it certainly warmed the crowd up well for the main event :)

When Green Day came on there was the inevitable crowd surge and although I was reasonably close to the stage I was glad that I wasn't right up at the front getting squashed and pulled out by security. They started off by playing American Idiot and the crowd became frenzied with a lot of moshing in the middle, DW toook this opportunity to retire to the sidleines in fear of her safety :earseek:. The band then continued with stuff from the American Idiot album before progressing back into some of their older stuff, basket case was another particular highlight for me.

There was amazing interaction with the crowd throughout from Billy Joe, at one stage he even pulled three members of the audience out to play drums, bass and guitar while he did the singing. The guitarist then got to keep the guitar he played  . So a tip for anyone who is going and can play drums, bass or guitar is to get to the front and go mental when he asks for people who can play to form a band :teeth:

I really enjoyed it and it was well worth the trip from Plymouth to Manchester.

I should just add to this that when DW says that she didn't buy much she was technically correct as far as quantity goes, although she did manage to feed her Louis Vuitton habit whilst we were in Selfridges which certainly didn't come cheap ;)

Alan.

sounds like you had a fab time :) can we get a minutes silence for alans bank balance please? :rotfl:

Great review Alan, thank you for posting that!

Now I must confess I really liked Green Day when they were first about ooooohhhh (cough, cough) a few years ago when I still fequented the odd rock club or three ;) but I never imagined they would have any sort of longevity.

It's great to hear they are still going strong and giving such great live entertainment :teeth:

Allie - for heaven's sake!! We could have been Billy no Mates together ;)
