Green Beans or String Beans?

It's equal in our house. I say green beans more, DH only calls them string beans and my girls say both.

Both. I call regular green beans, green beans. I call the french cut, string beans. Now I'm hungry for ham and string bean soup.

I always called them green beans. When I referred to them as that in front of my dh, he said, " don't call them 'green' beans, they are 'STRING' beans." To which I said " and, I feel like eating the yummy GREEN beans like your Mom makes them." (Which, btw, is after you cook them(fresh, not canned,) you toss them with olive oil and smashed garlic cloves with salt & pepper.)

I still have no idea why the attitude about calling them green? They are green, after all!
