Greatest location in POLY?

I know this topic usually is one that juggles around. But we are going to be staying onsite early-mid 2008 and we'd love to know what's the best location to be in the POLY. View isn't top priority for us, although it's nice to have, we don't have to have the greatest view ever, since we are there mainly just to rest, and sleep. We don't go in the pool much, but since we'll be onsite i know that my brother and I would use the pool. We also want to be relatively close to the food court & transporation. I think there's probably no location that has all of those, but is there any that at least have transportation and food court pretty close? Since the g'parents will be traveling with us again we wouldn't want to tire them easily.

BTW Pool location doesn't have to be super close but hopefully in a good walking distance, if not that's fine.

If you want to sacrifice location (close to Great Ceremonial House) for peace and serenity, I would ask for somewhere in the Tahiti longhouse, possibly 3rd floor. If you want to be closer to GCH, but still want good views, go for Tokelau.

The Tahiti building is about 4-5 minutes from GCH, Tokelau is about 3-4.

Here are a few options:

1. Tokelau garden view. You've got the view of the 'quiet' pool on one side and garden views on the other. Not too far from the GCH or the TTC.

2. Fiji garden view. If you luck out, you can get a view of the marina for the price of a garden view room. *very* quick to the GCH and bus stop--considerably longer to the TTC. The volcano pool is close but you have to walk around the marina to get to it.

3. Samoa garden view. *Very* close to the GCH. It is right across from the volcano pool and the 2nd closest longouse to the GCH (Niue is closest).

Definitely check out Tikiman's website (do a google search on his name). He has an incredible amount of information about the Poly including the pros and cons of each longhouse.

Rarotonga is close to the GCH (restaurants, shops, monorail), the pools and just steps away from the bus stop. Based on your criteria, I'd recommend Rarotonga, Niue, Samoa or Tokelau, in that order. Tahiti is very conveniently located to the TTC, but pretty far from everything else, and many people complain about the location. How "far" everything is from the key areas is very subjective and seems to be based on each particular family's mobility issues. A 3-5 minute walk for one party of young, healthy adults can take 10-15 minutes for another party with an infant and a toddler, or a family member who uses assistive devices. We travelled with seniors with achy hips, knees and backs and requested 1st floor Rarotonga, siting health issues. Remember, you can make requests, but they are not guaranteed.

Just to clarify, there is no "food court" at the Poly. Captain Cook's, located in the GCH, is considered a counter-service restaurant, and has a very limited menu compared to food courts. The table-service restaurants are also in the GCH, and there are snacks available at the main pool bar.
