I booked the Great Wolf Lodge for January for 130.00. Due to our work schedules we are only going for 1 night. Do you think 1 night will be enough time to enjoy ourselves? There seems to be so much to do there. My children are 4, 10 & 14. I hoping the youngest will enjoy story telling time. Is Club Cub fun?

We booked the Family suite. Do you think we will regret not getting a more "fun" room for the children? It just didn't seem worth nearly 100.00 more for one night.

How is the food there? The resturant with the tent style tables really looks like a fun place to eat. :teeth:

Any other ideas of things we must do?

this place looks amazing
we got a flier about the new one with coupons
we would like to take the boys there when ds20 months is older

I've only been to the one in Sandusky, but I think one night can be enough, since you have water park priviledges the entire day of check out, so get there fairly early, enjoy the water park until close, then the next morning, have some breakfast, check out, and spend the rest of the day at the park as well (there's changing rooms inside the water park).

The food at GWL Sandusky was nothing to write home about, but it's quick and it's right there. If we were spending more than one night, we would have gone out and eaten somewhere else, but we wanted to maximize water time, so we just ate right there.

We got a family suite -- you'll like it. There's a separate bunk bed area for the kids, with their own TV/VCR and (I believe) GameCube. :)

I was at the one in Williamasburg in Oct. It was my mom my sister (age 10) and me. We had a great time. If you are only going to the resort I think one day will be fine. We really enjoyed the food but be prepared the portions are huge. We all ordered an entree the first night and then from then on out we only got two and still had leftovers. The rooms are huge. I can't remember what we had but it had two queen size beds and a pull out sofa.

We did very little with the Cub Club. They had some activites that are free but others you pay for. You also have to have an adult with them there at all times. We are used to cruise ships where you sign the kids in and out so this was a little different for us. My sister colored a T-shirt (pay activity) and then made a couple other halloween crafts that are free.

We loved the water park. It was not busy when we were there so we went right up and down all the slides. This sounds great but my legs where killing me when we left. LOL guess I'm a little out of shape but I will never complain about waiting in line for a slide again my legs thank me for the rest.

If you have anymore questions just let me know. My sister can't wait to go back.

Have fun!!

We have one in Wisconsin Dells. We got to the resort around 3:00. I think 1 day is plenty. We went the beginning of July for that amount and we got 4 breakfasts included in our price.

There is plenty to do. We even had the outside waterpark. We stayed until 11:00 a.m. the next day and then went to the world's largest water park in WI. They will let you stay in the water area after you check out. There are showers and changing rooms in the indoor water area.

One just opened here in the Poconos in PA - I was thinking about doing it with the ski/tube package it is like $459 for 2 nights...I think it is a little
pricey but I have paid close to taht for 1 night in cons. at the beach club
so don't know why this is killing me...I too wondered if there was enough to do at the water park.
Has anyone see the one here in pa yet?

I'm glad to hear so many good things! The kids have no idea that they have the cooler cabin rooms so hopefully that won't be much of a concern. For the 5 of us it seems like a really nice, affordable getaway. I can't wait! If this goes well we'll have to try the one in Niagra Fall sometime. I've always wanted to go there too. :)

We just got back yesterday from our 4th trip there (3rd for the kids). On the other trips w/ the boys, we stayed in a Kid Cabin room and Monday night we stayed in a Family Suite since it was such a good deal. The room is a *lot* smaller, esp in the bathroom & wet bar areas. The bathroom in the family suite is tiny! It holds just the tub & toilet. The sink is outside in the room. With the Kid Cabin, there's a sink in the bathroom and also one in the wetbar. So, that was a pain for us.

I have major bad news about the restaurants. They're in the middle of redoing the restaurants. The sit-down restaurant (the one with the tent covered tables) isn't open anymore. We were ticked when we went to eat there Monday night & found out. The food there was SO good and the portions were huge. All they have now is the buffet in Loose Moose Cottage, which had a crappy menu. So, we ended up going out to eat a a restaurant on 60.

The Cub Club is fun. We've only spent minimal time there. They have crafts all day long - some are free, some have a small fee.

For anyone planning to go in the future, let me suggest the Monday after Thanksgiving. The place was EMPTY! The most people I saw in the park at one time was like 30. At one point, my sister was the only one in the water park (around 8pm).

I think one night will be plenty. We stayed 2 nights once & it was too much. Keep in mind, you can use the water park starting at 1pm on the day of checkin and then all day (8:30am to 10pm) on the day you check out.

I go to school at William and Mary and lived in there for five years (just moved to Norfolk and commute... love it compared to the burg!!). Oh, and I'm not slow- I just went there for undergrad and grad! :rotfl:

If you only have one night then spend most of it at the lodge since that's what you're payin for! There isn't much to do in williamsburg during that time of the year. Which is also good since the GWL should be pretty dead- the tourists seem to stay far far away from here post-Christmas.

But, if you yourself want to get away from the kids for a bit - there should be some incredible sales going on at the Prime Outlets on rte 60 (I work there part time too) and also the new Yankee Candle just opened only a few miles from it (it's a smaller version of the flagship store in Deerfield, Mass) and it's really nice- I just stopped by the other day.

If you need any recommendations for restaurants since the one at the lodge seems to be under construction, just ask. I've either been to or known someone who has been to almost all the restaurants here! :flower:

Have fun! :cool1:

What a great rate! I am toying with a night at GWL in Williamsburg. WIll I find that rate on their website?

Oh what ashame! I was really looking forward to eating there. It looked like such fun.
I thought the whole place was pretty new, wonder why they are redoing them already?

Do you have to pay extra to get into everything at the waterparks, or is that included in the price of your room?

I was at the one in Williamsburg in the summer, and just at the one in the poconos. I think the famiky suite will be fine for one night. You are really only going to sleep in it because you'll be in the waterpark probably until it closes. At least you will if your kids are like mine. All the rooms have a microwave, refridgerator and coffee maker. Have a great time!

Nope, it's included. One nights stay gives you 2 day passes to the water park. :)

Well, Loose Moose Cottage *really* needed to be re-done. It was "buffet" but everything was made to order, so the line got severely backed up at peak times. The sit down restaurant (which I'm totally blanking on the name of) was fine! It was only opened for dinner, though, so I guess maybe that's their reason for restructuring it, too.

I'm hoping I just got a clueless employee and they really will re-open the sit down restaurant at some point.

Well we still have over a month, maybe they'll be finished by the time we arrive (fingers crossed!!!). :sunny: It looks like they have a snack bar there too so maybe we can atleast have lunch there.Either way I intend to have a blast. :)
