Thinking about taking the family, husband, 2 children -10 and 8 to GWL in Niagara Falls on Canadian Thanksgiving for 2 days -either Sat/Sun or Sun/Mon. Have some questions:

Is it very busy?

Where are the best rooms located within the hotel?

Can you walk to eat somewhere other than the previously noted expensive buffets at GWL?

Anyone been to Splash Lagoon in Erie, Pennsylvania - how do the 2 compare?

Any good shopping malls in Niagara USA or Buffalo - designer outlet type with good prices on clothing for the whole family?

Thanks!

I am very curious about this resort as well. Bumping up so someone can give us some information.

Just stayed there the end of July, booked through Expedia got the best rate.
We loved it the waterpark was great, the meals were good, buffet dinner 19.99 adult 11.99 kids under 10, kids drinks included. Breakfast buffet adults 11.99 kids I think $6.99 , but kids 3 and under free for meals all the time.

We had the lowest priced Family Suites and we were very satisfied. We will go back. It rained in Niagara falls the weekend we were there so having the lodge as back up was the best.

You will have fun.

Also, there is the Canada One Factory outlet on Lundy's Lane in Niagara Falls, ON which is about 15-20 minute drive from the GWL. I'm sure they'll be able to give you directions.

However, the above poster is absolutely correct, GWL is out in the boonies so you'll want to stay there to eat.

We went back in June and we all had a wonderful time.It was myself DH,DS-9 DD-7 and my step son-13.It was a blast we had at great time there and the rooms were wonderful. We stayed in the KidCabin suites which were great because the kids had a small room to themselves. The staff were friendly and the waterpark was busy but nothing to major. There was lots of room for everyone. We enjoyed our trip and we will be going again that's forsure.
We went to their site and book through there and recived a web discount which gave us $100 off a night.

Just got back from a three night stay and absolutly loved it. I think me and the wife had more fun that the kids. We originaly planned for only two nights but were able to book a third night for half price. They advised me that if you ask for an extra night and rooms are available they usually will offer you a discount for an extra night.

The hotel was full when I was there and the waterpark did not really seem busy at all. The room included a fridge and this really helped in cutting down the food expense. There is a Walmart about 10 minutes away and you can fill up on snacks there before your stay. :thumbsup2

We are going in October and I can't wait :teeth: I haven't really told the kids because they'll think we are heading there tomorrow ... so it will be a bit of a surprise. I booked it through this board when someone mentioned a really good rate on an October weekend if you booked it using a promotional code through a Christian school fundraiser. So I booked and got the Friday for $159 and the Saturday for $199 ... it is the weekend before Halloween, so I figure I will have to be organized and be READY with costumes before we leave and not wait to be putting them together like a mad woman the night before

What do you mean by boonies? Is it that far from anywhere to eat? How far is far? Is it just easier to eat there, or is it really worth it?

I have a five and three year old ... is there a nice area just for this age group? Lots to do?

Kerri :sunny:
