Great Wolf Lodge near Disneyland

It looks like it will be a neat place. They've started construction. It will be located 2 miles south of Disneyland on Harbor Blvd. :)

I live by the one in Washington. It is total waste of money and time. There are better water parks in the DL area. We have been to raging waters for day trips while at DL and love it, the weather is hotter than Anaheim, and there are great slides for big kids, little kids, and adults. GWL only has a few slides in comparison, is very loud as it is inside, very very hot and uncomfortable with no air flow for the non participating adults. You are only limited to 4 tickets per room and then you have to pay extra for extra people so if you have a room that holds 6, you pay extra for the 2 extra people. The food is horrible at the place and very expensive. We have been to Wisconsin Dells, the largest water park town in America and it rocks, GWL is the smallest water park they have in that town. The only benefit I see is that on rainy days, or cold winter days you have indoor pool place, but summer no way in hell would I step foot in that place. I am very surprised that they are building this in an area that has the best outdoor temps around, enjoy your time at the other parks and your money.

I've always heard good things about the Great Wolf Lodges and have always wanted to try staying there myself. So, as a tourist, I think it's great. I know there are some locals who weren't happy with the development. I remember reading an article and someone was complaining because the the water park would only be accessible to hotel guests. Well, yeah. I don't see Disney opening up their pools to non guests either. ? As for the indoor aspect, I don't think it's a terrible idea, especially in winter time or those with fair skin who burn easily. At any rate, I think it will provide some competition for the Disney hotels and be a good family friendly option when staying in Anaheim.

Maybe it depends on what one you go to. The one is Washington gets lousy reviews. I've been to the one in Minnesota too and it is going downhill fast. The maintenance is lacking and some of the slides have been out of order on my recent visits.

I've never heard of the brand until reading about the Anaheim opening. While we probably would not make this our go to Disney area hotel (we have a favorite already), we are definitely going to check it out when it opens for a night or two.

While I'm sure some of the old ones are run down and aren't in the best shape, I can't imagine this one being that way. They're going to want to make this one AMAZING considering the amount of traffic this location could potentially see with one of the biggest tourist attractions in the world just 2 miles away.

With that said, I don't NEED a hotel as I'm less than 10 miles from Disneyland but I think it'd be fun for my kid's birthdays since they're in November in December. I'm excited for it. I wanted to visit the one near Boston for our trip in November but plans changed. I'll wait until this one opens.

When it comes to vacations, my kids are all about the waterslides. We like to do Disney (Land or World) in the winter, so waterslides at Paradise Pier are used when it's freezing. An indoor waterpark will be quite welcome. I've been waiting for GW to come to LA for a long time now and I'm glad it's finally happening. The only thing I'm sad about is that it won't happen until 2016. Man, that's a long way off.

Only a year and a half to go! Not that long!
