I just got a good rate online from Hertz. P/U at LAX Oct 18 and drop in San Diego Oct 24 for $327 including taxes etc. for a full size car! And they did not charge the one way fee. Every other car company I tried (all the big ones) were at least $600 plus taxes etc. for the same reservation.
I tried putting in a coupon code (Entertainment book) but that made it over $500 so I took the promo codes out and it was $327.
We weren't going to get a car for the whole week but when weighing the price of shuttles, the convenience of driving ourselves and that we would need the car for at least 2 days for the San Diego portion of the trip, once I saw this rate I booked it.
