Great unknown tips or secrets!

Same here!!! Ziplocs are the first thing I buy before clothes!!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I pack all of our clothes in ziplocs. Keeps the dirty airport people from getting my clothes dirty or touching my underwear when looking through the luggage. :lmao: I then use them when I am packing for home or when needed on the trip. "I thought the ziploc bags are "normal" packing item..." You mean I have another club to belong to? Hi I am a tinkerbellmom and I'm addicted to DCL and Ziplocs..........

When coming from air conditioning into warm air, the lens on your camera and camcorder will fog up. Half of my video is my finger cleaning the lens. If you're an early bird, set your camera on your veranda and let it warm up a bit, before pulling into castaway cay so you don't miss out on some great photos.

Oh my, THANK YOU THANK YOU........ We had this problem last two cruises and did not know how to fix it. We missed all of our photo ops both times on CC with Michey in Beach wear, because it was a foggy mess.:hippie:

I love this thread. We leave in just a few days for our first WONDER cruise. Will book the Eastern while onboard. Keep sending ideas!!!!!

Great thread!!! I have a few to share...

  • Pack an insulated bottle or water bottle hugger (for after making a bottled water purchase). It's great to fill up at Topsiders or Cookie's when you're ready to return to your cabin, your lounge chair on decks 4/9/10, or your beach chair on CC.
  • Consider a zip-tie to attach your Fish Extender to your fish mail holder to detour possible unDisney-like cruisers who may want to take it. Don't forget you need some scissors to take it down on your last night of the cruise.
  • So many have mentioned their door magnets have legs. If you prefer not to put names on them, consider putting words like "Should I get lost, my home is cabin ####." I suggest this be noted on the front of the magnet. That will hopefully make them think twice before running off with it.
  • Pack a small spray bottle with Downy Wrinkle Release.
  • Photo copy your critical documents and store somewhere besides where you have those items (drivers license, passport, etc.).
  • Take a magnetic stripped card, like a library or grocery store card, to use as your stateroom safe's "key". Hide the card somewhere in the room. This eliminates the constraint of waiting for the KTTW cardholder to be with you if you need in the safe.
  • Don't forget the bug repellant for some of the off-shore, inland excursions like the ruins.
  • For you scrapbookers out there, make a small "autograph book" with transparency paper (like 5"x6"). Hole punch a corner of each sheet and place on a ring. Don't forget a Sharpie on your packing list!! When you get home, you can cut off an inch where the whole punch was (now a 4"x6"), and lay the transparency papers over your scrapbook pages or photos!
  • Inside your closet you'll find velcro to help the closet door stay closed on those rocky nights.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Yes, join the club! We always get the XXL (huge) ziplock bags to pack all of our clothes in. They make for great dirty laundry bags and you can press all the air out of them, for returning home. We love em!

YEAH!! Love this thread, thank you for all your tips!! I hope I will have some of my own when I come back in December.

A great tip I was told about before we took our first DCL last year was to purchase a 11x14 photo mat and drop it off at the guest services desk to get autographs on it. It was ready to be picked up the last night of our cruise and we had over 20 autographs on it. I have also heard of people taking pillow cases and doing the same thing.

There are strollers for you to use free of charge on CC.

Yes and since they belong to Disney, you can take them back on board to use there. My DD fell asleep and they told us to "keep it" and when she woke up, just give it to our Stateroom Host.:thumbsup2

I read this one on the DIS before we left and it was a lifesaver.

Once you know your stateroom number prior to leaving on your cruise, print out a sheet of labels with your:
*Name & address
*Stateroom Number

Then, on that last night when you've got to have your bags in the hall by 11 pm and it's so hectic, you can skip all the writing to fill out your special 'character' luggage tags.

Just pull off a label and slap it on the tag and you're good to go. This is what allowed me to make that 11 pm deadline!

We always bring a few clothes pins. It makes it easier to hang the bathing suits and you can use it to get the curtains closed really tight if you want to sleep in or take a nap. I usually keep them in my suitcase for hotels.

I am repeating this from a post I made in 11/06. Sorry if it is a repeat in this forum.

When we took our first cruise in November 2006, we had more baggage then we ever take on vacation. We don't usually bring evening clothes, pirate costumes, snorkeling gear etc. Needless to say with three of us, we had 6 checked baggage and 3 carry ons. When we found our luggage in the port terminal after disembarking, we began to connect the smaller bags to the larger bags so that my dh and I could handle most of the luggage and our dd(9) could handle her bag and her carry on. It was very difficult moving and then we saw the long line to go through customs. We decided to get a porter which is something we really don't usually do. Who needs the added expense. Besides the stingray encounter on Castaway Cay, it was the best expenditure we made outside of the cruise itself. The porter loaded up all 9 of our bags and took our customs card and moved us right up to customs on the left of the long line. We were out to our airline check in counter within 5 minutes. So if you have money left and you have a lot of baggage, I highly recommend this. Since many people check their luggage at curbside at the airport, and have access to carts when picking up luggage at baggage claim, you don't realize how difficult a large quantity of luggage really is. We over tipped since we didn't know any better. According to what I read now, it should be $1 ot $2 per bag. Even though we gave the porter $30, I still think it was money well spent.

Another vote here for the over-the-door shoe hangar. I bought a cheap one at Target for like $5 and it was very handy. Kept the sink clutter free!

Check the Dollar Store. I got a few there, for home, work, etc... for the same reason, ORGANIZATION, not shoes!

I had bookmarked this thread long ago when we first considered a cruise. I found it again now that we are probably taking one next year, and I thought it time to bump it. Maybe all these great tips are in the tip section, but I thought it worth bumping this up. You can never have too many tips. ;)

Definately! Keep the tips coming!

RweTHEREyet - I noticed your tickers...looks like youre going down, the next 3 times, the same as us!!!

Sept 2007, Jan/Feb 2008 AND Sept 2008/Cruise!!!

LOL!

For your photo albums: When you get your Navigators, use them to carry around the whole day on board, THEN, as you're walking around during the day, stop at Guest Services and grab a brand new one to save and keep nice. They have a whole pile of them for the taking. Bring it right back to your room and place in a file folder so it doesn't get wrinkled and folded. This one doesn't get cut up, when I start my photo album, I place 3 holes in it and place it before all the photos of that particular day in the photo album. It works great! and looks really nice. I did this every day of the cruise, you end up walking by guest services at least once a day anyway.

The Navigator that you took with you thruout the day, is the one you could cut up for scrapbooking etc.
