**Great price on rental car!***

The pixie dust fairy just paid me a visit.

I just bid on priceline for a rental car for our trip and I won a mid-size for $10 per day with Hertz!!! I am so happy. The total was $129.xx on June 2 - June 9. This is over $100 less than the best price I could find on my own.

I hope this post can help others.

I have never rented with Hertz before, I have always used Alamo or National. How will this rental experience be different???

I have never rented from Hertz as they are usually more expensive than any one else.

I gave it a try for my dates (5/27-30), but had no luck. I'm assuming the holiday weekend is doing me in. Oh well. Still worth the shot. Glad you were able to get such a great deal, though!

How far out in advance do you typically reserve your car? I am planning to do it for the first time in September. Is it usually best to try Priceline closer to my trip?

I don't usually try Priceline until about 2 weeks out. Before that I use every codes/coupon combination that I can find until I find a price that I feel is acceptable for me. This way I have a back-up resi in case Priceline does not drop their prices.
