Just wanted to share that I got a great rate of $39.00 plus tax each for 2 rooms at the Doubletree in Cocoa Beach for the night before our cruise....Feb 6, 2004. The price includes cocktail party at night and breakfast in the morning.

I didn't think Priceline would accept my price since they listed a 3 star hotel for over $90!!!

I just checked the Doubletree site and they are showing the cheapest room at $98.00 per night for the same time!!

Twice now I have had great luck with Priceline for our precruise stay. In September I got the Holiday in for $45.00 per night and it was listed at over $70. at their site.

We have stayed at the Radisson many times and wanted to try some of the other hotels in the area for comparison, though nothing beats the location of the Radisson in relation to the ship.

Congrats on the great rate!!!

Has anyone stayed at the Doubletree lately? Is there a review?

We have reservations at the Raddisson - but for $39 we may have to change! ;)

Hey MJ,

That is a great rate. Thank you for the heads up for this group.

If they reject your bid at priceline.com, do you have to wait the 3 days if you don't make any changes to your night/area?

Curious - we tried it for the first time last night and our bid was rejected, found out we have to wait 3 days before we can resubmit - is there anyway around that?

We stayed at the Doubletree in October and were pleased with our room. We had three adults and were given a room with a separate living area with TV, kitchenette and a bedroom with a king sized bed and TV. We had a balcony with a view of the water. We could also see our ship (RCL's SOS) from our balcony in the morning. The food was very good and it looks like they have a nice pool area and have access to the beach as well. $39 sounds like a steal!! Way to go!

Hey Zucchero........WELCOME TO THE DIS BOARD!!!!

I am glad you came to this wonderful site....all the people here are fantastic and knowledgeable and you will gain tons of info for your upcoming cruise in August!!!!

Rae...We had our bid accepted the first time but I know you do have to wait if the bid is rejected. I think they say 72 hours but I believe last time I tried Priceline I tried the next night and was able to try again.

You can try again immediately if you change the hotel star rating or area you are looking in, but not just for a higher bid.

Anyone else have any experience with this hotel? We have always stayed at the radisson but all nonsmoking rooms are booked for our cruise date in June. thanks Beth

Great rate! Wow! We have stayed at the Doubletree and found it to be a very nice, classy hotel. We paid $99 a night. The restaurant is good, and the pool, while small, has a live carribean music band and cute cabana boys to bring you tropical drinks! Really got us in the mood for our cruise. It also has a private path down to the beach.

We stayed there 4 nights. (They do offer transportation to the port, but we drove our own car, so I have no input on that.) I highly recommend it! Especially at the give-away price of $39 a night! You can't get the Days Inn for that! ::MinnieMo

Congrats on a great Priceline deal! :bounce: :bounce:
For others using Priceline, even if you get a message saying that you are bidding too low, just ignore it. I get that all the time and still get my bids accepted. Using www.biddingfortravel.com is the best guideline, no matter what Priceline says.
Rae, you can bid more than once if you use a different charge card and email address to set up another account. Just be sure to clear all the cookies and temporary internet files from your PC or it might realize you are the same person.
Twice with hotels and several times with rental cars I've been invited to bid again immediately if I put in a "suggested price." The invitation and details come up on the rejection screen. I've done that and have always gotten it accepted. But that only happens once in a while...it's definitely not common.

Barb - you are good! I mean it! You are good!!!!! Ever think of being a PI!!! Now what about those ebay hints?! tee hee hee!

Seriously, thank you very much for that - makes sense now that you see it in print. Just a bit confusing. I'll get over to the other site and do my research there - always best to go as an informed consumer than blind!

When are you coming down to go riding with us at Crooked Creek???? Spring thaw, definitely!!

Rae

Is there any way to assure that Double Tree will be the hotel? What are the other possible 3 star Priceline options? Any info would be appreciated as I'm trying to work out the night before our 2/14 Western cruise...

Sue

Hi,

I have a reservation at the Radisson ( for now), so I can use the shuttle.

I won't have a car this trip to Florida.

Does anyone know if the Doubletree offers a shuttle to the Disney ship?

Maybe a dumb question, but approx. how far is the port from this hotel?

Thanks:teeth:

Rae, and all....

For more information on priceline bidding (and lots of good info, hotel reviews, etc.) you can go to www.biddingfortravel.com. There is NO WAY to assure that you will get a particular hotel. You bid on a * level and a location. Even if you bid the same amount and the same day that a friend does, you could get different hotels...if you want rooms together, be sure to do multiple rooms on one reservation.

You do not have to wait 3 days to re-bid if you can find a "free re-bid" possibility. Basically, you have to change something about your bid besides the amount in order to re-bid. You can add a "location." If you add a location that does not have a 3* hotel and continue to request 3*, they can't possibly put you in the new location...thus, it is a "free re-bid."

For instance, in the Orlando area, there are many locations with NO resort hotels....so if I want a resort in the WDW area and don't get it on my first bid, I can add the Kissemmee area (where there are no resorts) and re-bid. Then, I can add the MCO area (again, no resorts) and bid again.

You can also set up more than one profile using multiple credit cards to allow multiple bids in one day.

Does the Doubletree allow you to park your car at the hotel for the duration of your cruise?

Rae, that riding sounds fantastic!
I haven't seen my hooved "kids" in a while because of this miserable weather. I know that my friends are taking good care of them, but I miss getting out there. I am looking forward to that spring ride.
With rental cars, I found another way to rebid without a second profile if you are on a late flight. When we do a quickie week in Orlando, we usually take a flight that gets in at midnight. I do my first bid for 11:30 p.m., and if it's not accepted, I switch to 12 a.m., which is technically a different day.

Hi Barb! I followed your advise and just got Holiday Inn Select at MCO for $40 plus taxes. We will make arrangements for Happy Limo accordingly - by the way, do they only pick up at MCO or will they p/u at HI?

Yes, it's a date when the spring thaw comes. Saw my 3 sons today - the oldest one (golden palomino) is having serious medical problems; going to get another one for Michael before this one passes on. I think he understands. Had to let go, but time is short for him.

Anyway, looks like a good vacation coming up in April - thanks so much for the help!
