What does everyone think of this giant ferris wheel type thing that's coming to Orlando? I didn't think much of it until I watched a promo video for it:

And now I'm actually quite excited about it. Especially since you can watch fireworks from the Orlando parks from it! Although the name is as corny as all get out. I hope they do change that.

Didn't know anything about it but THRILLED. I didn't get to ride it in London last fall and DD wants to do theirs so much. It's weird. They were in lots of towns across England but none (apparently) in America. Can't wait to show her - she'll be so excited. 2010 will be a great year for Orlando - HP World at IoA and this!!!! Woo Hoo!

It's just to far from the World. I believe it's close to the airport, and even though we always rent a car, I can't wait to get away from the airport.

I think it looks just like the London Eye (which I didn't get to ride last summer :sad2: ) and looks awesome. My mother seems to think it's kind of silly because there's not as many cool buildings to look at in Orlando as there is in London. Personally, I disgree because I bet you could see some of the theme parks and everything and I just think the design of it looks awesome too and it good aesthetically for the city.

According to their website it's in the Convention Center area on I Drive ( or adjacent to it).
"Ideally situated in the heart of Orlando, Florida, the Wheel is conveniently located to nearby attractions including, SeaWorld, Universal Studios, Walt Disney World Resort and bustling Downtown Orlando. Additionally, the Orlando-Orange County Convention Center and International Drive, Central Florida’s main tourist corridor, are adjacent to the site."

What is HP World supposed to be like?

Yes, you are supposed to be able to see the fireworks from several theme parks from there. I think it looks exciting!

Not really. It's a block away from Sea World, good 10 miles from the airport, but just one or two exits up from Lake Buena Vista.

Views of Sea World fireworks will be incredible. I wouldn't rule out being able to see some of Disney's as well--we can hear them in this general area, so it's not that far. Don't know if the timing will work out, but the wheel would be amazing for a space shuttle launch.

In the promo material, i.e. the video I posted, they seem to suggest that this would definitely be a possibility.

It'll be going in by the Convention Center which is on International Drive, aside from Disney the most visited area in Orlando.Probably a walkable distance to Sea World, tons of restaurants and shopping areas like Pointe Orlando also a short drive to the Universal parks.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: When you said HP World, I thought it was going to be Hewlett Packard World. I was trying to figure out how a theme park based on a multinational computer corporation could be all that exciting.

Thanks for the links...and the enlightenment.
