I don't know if this has been done but I just wanted to start a thread sharing info about great movies to rent or to see in the theaters. It doesn't have to be Disney just as long as it's good. It doesn't even have to be recent as long as it's good - lol!

I just watched The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and thought it was great. I laughed and cried and I never once thought that it would be that good.

We also watched Nannie McPhee and thought it was great as well. Our kids really understood the message and thought it was "cool" too! You can't beat that. :)

Anyone else care to share a must be seen? :goodvibes

I can't recommend Secondhand Lions enough for an excellent film. Tuck Everlasting is phenominal as well.

Saving Private Ryan

The first thirty minutes of that movie are an incredibly moving reminder of the sacrifice so many have made for our nation and of why the rest of us shouldn't take the freedoms they earned us for granted.

The Machinist

Really? I rented this a few months ago and didn't think it was very good. I LOOOOOOVE Christian Bale and was disappointed in his performance.

Another vote for Saving Private Ryan.

Schindler's List

The Green Mile

Another vote for the Green Mile.

We Were Soldiers- in my opinion, the greatest war film ever made, since it gives a full picture of the soldiers and what their families were going through at home- it makes them human. It is also fairly accurate.

Office Space- a great, funny movie.

Pride and Prejudice- the one with Kira Knightly- fabulous!

The Notebook- I've cried watching movies before, but this one actually made me sob!

I'll see if I can think of some more. :)

Another :thumbsup2 for We Were Soldiers, Saving Private Ryan, and The Shawshank Redemption.

Also have to throw in Speed, Trading Spaces, The Incredibles, and Identity.

"Good Will Hunting" gets my vote.

Saving Private Ryan is one of the all time greats. If you liked it you should see Band of Brothers (HBO made it)

Just watched "Capote" - excellent!!!!!!!!! Very impressed!!!!!!!!!!

I'm happy to hear that, I think I'm going to rent it tonight. :thumbsup2

I just watched The Notebook last weekend and I really loved it. It was a beautiful movie and I highly recommend it. :)

I also just saw Brokeback Mountain and I really was not sure what to expect. Many parts of it were very moving but other parts I just was not feeling it. Overall it was decent but with all of the awards that movie got I guess I just expected more.

That's Trading PLACES!!! Not the home improvement show Trading Spaces.

That movie is BURNED into my memory because it's the frist time Jamie Lee Curtis showed her um... (to put it delicately), her "attributes".

Multiplicity is also very funny

Tristan and Isolde wasn't bad- kind of a romeo and juliet meets king arthur, lancelot, and guinevere thing going on.

The Family Man- with Nicholas Cage is good

Cast Away- another excellent movie!

Well, the movie in my avitar is a great movie.

Great posts all! I have seen most of the ones mentioned but there are a few I think I'll check out. I have not seen The Notebook but I did read the book and it was a tearjerker. I can't wait to see the movie. On a side note, if you liked The Notebook, I'll bet you would like Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas (the book).

Any others?

I'm assuming you like chick flicks, since you liked Sisterhood. So you should really see Must Love Dogs. I absolutely love it. You laugh, you cry. It's kind of predictable (as most chick flicks are), but it's awesome
