Hi! Ice read in several places, that there are two different action scenarios in the GMR. One features gangsters and the other cowboys. I've probably ridden that ride 20 times and have only experienced the gangsters. Has anyone ever seen the cowboy scene or is it just a rumor?!

No, it's not a rumor. I can personally attest that GMR has a Western show

After riding TGMR over 10 times we finally got the western hijacker, a year ago

They do have the western secene, but I have never seen it either. I believe that durring the slower times they only run the Gangster scene and send the western scene car through empty. I'd like to see it myself, I hear it's great!

There is two different experiences. The cowboy scene is much more expensive to run, so they only do that during busy times. You can always ask at the podium before entering the loading area if they are running the cowboy scene, if they are, they will gladly have you wait (if needed) to be able to experience it. The trick is if they are running 2 complete cars, the first set of cars will get the cowboy, the second set will get the gangster! Edited because I had it backwards!

No, it can run during slower times

The cowboy scene has explosions/fireballs. Those require gas which costs money. That's why it is rarely run these days.

It may not run as often as Gangster. But Western isn't rarely run

GMR is my favorite ride and has been since I was a child! It is true that there are two experiences, though they don't always run the western/bank robber scene (as others have posted) due to cost. If it is running, you will experience that if you are in the front car. The back car experiences the gangster. So, if you are going through te doorway from the room with the big screen, if they send you to the right, you will experience the bank robber. If you go straight or to the left, you will experience the gangster. If you see that people are loading to the right, simply ask and they will send you that way or have you wait for the next set of cars. They will try to accommodate you, though.

You have seen the scene, just not in full operation, though, if you have ever ridden the ride. When you experience the gangster and he is making his get away, the next room you come to is a western scene with John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. If you are not in the gangster car, the cast member will ask you what movie starred both actors and then say it was a trick question as they never appeared in a single movie together. Then, you will hear, "Somebody's robbing the bank!" The cast member will say not on her watch and enter the bank. The robber comes out and is shooting at people across the way and her sidekick (I want to say his name is Snake) is also shooting across the room. Then, the banke blows up and fire is shooting out the windows (that's where they high cost comes from). If you were in the gangster car, you still experience the shooting, but the bank won't blow up. The gangster will say that he's getting out of there and you move on. Then, on to the Alien scene.

Explosions and fireballs!!! Sweet! I will definitely ask for that when we go. We've only experienced the gangster scene.

I would recommend to go to GMR earlier in the day (as typically the Western show doesn't run in the evening, except during busy times)

I had never seen the cowboy scene myself until mine and DH Disneymoon trip. Its real ;)

We have seen both of the scenes equally throughout the years.

I also have never seen the western theme, Ill be there around Christmas I hope it is running then.

Exact opposite experience here!!! :confused3 We always go during slower times of the year (January and early February) and we have only EVER seen the Western scene. I had never heard of the gangster scene. On our last trip, we must have rode GMR around 10 times, and the last time, they did the gangster scene. I was so stunned, I didn't have a clue what was going on. As many times as we have caught the western scene, well over 20 times, I am surprised there are others that haven't seen it - I thought the gangster was a rare one since we only bumped into it once.

I have been to Disney many times and have never seen the Cowboy scene. I will try to request it on our next trip in May.
