I've been on GMR quite a few times. A quite few years ago, you were taken hostage by a cowboy. Only a few years ago you were abducted by a gangster. I went on this ride recently and theres not a gun fight in the Underworld, and you're abducted by a cowboy. Also he now blows up a bank. How often do they change this ride?

Depending on what car you ride in (either the front or the back), you will either be "abducted by" a ganster or a cowboy. It's always been either/or.

That being said, they did make some minor changes to the ride dialogue, but nothing to the great extent of changing the "abduction" scenes.

Yep, RyMickey is correct. When I went on it this month, I was abducted by a gangster and the shootout still happened. Hopefully next time I'll get to see the cowboy version.

It's been so long since we've gone through the cowboy scenario, that I don't even remember it. We always get the gangster one.

Yep, they still do both, it just depends upon where you sit. I believe the first two cars proceed into the cowboy scene and the second two cars stop at gangsters. I also think if it's not a busy time, then only two cars and the gangster scene is used.

Last year, we asked the castmember which car to get in to see the "cowboys" since this was our second time that day going on the ride. They were very accomodating. :)

So you can ask (if riding numerous times) to go the 'other route' and see whatever you didn't see the first time? This sounds great, I've never been on this ride!

cool - had no idea they had a cowboy version. always sat in the last two cars and had the gangster. didn't even know i was missing something different. will try for the first two cars next time to try and catch that cowboy. (either of those are indifferent anyway as the best part of this ride is going thru munchkinland. :) )

- lori

I always got the ganster whenever I went, except for this last trip in April with my niece and nephew. We got to cowboy and tried a 2nd time so my niece could see the ganster. Yup, we got the cowboy again lol. I wish I thought to ask for the ganster ride as my niece will probably not get back to WDW for quite awhile again.

We have done the gangster many times and the cowboy only twice. DCherubs like the cowboy better!

Ha we did the same - we got the gangsta and then I read in the unoffical guide that there was also a cowboy so we went again - but it was quiet so we got the gangsta again!

My DH2B was not happy as for some reason he doesn't like this ride!! He says its out of date and there are no new films featured... exactly it's meant to be the classics!! doh!

The line splits up early while you are waiting... half of the guests go to the left and half go to the right. I forget which direction is which scene... however, one direction is one scene and the other direction is the other!!!!
So, you can go to the left the first time and then go to the right the second time and you will see both scenes!!!

Will the gangster/cowboy scenes scare kids?
The scariest part IMO is the scene where they talk about horror movies...you go through a section with skeletons that I always try not to look at.

DD wants to work in that ride so bad. Each time we ride it, she recites all of the dialog to me (I make her whisper). She thinks she would be great in either part (she does a great Brooklyn accent). I think she would be really good at this. Maybe one of these days you will see her as the CM on the ride.

That would explain it for me then. I was just going to post and say that I've ridden this ride more times than I can count and I've ALWAYS had the gangster scene. But I always go in the slow season - never been in the summer or during school vacation. So am I out of luck in ever seeing the cowboy scene??

Wow I thought this was common knowledege but i guess if you always split to the right you only see one side lol. Ok listen up people when you first split, the left side of the line shows you the gangster scene and the right shows the cowboy scene. This is because eventually the right is closer to the first car at the loading dock and that first car goes threw the gangster scene but doesn't stop because then the second car has nowhere to stop. The ride never changes, but either side is good, I prefer the western scene because I like the exploding bank.

we're lucky I guess..

We got the cowboy our first ride and the gangster the second. We had no idea that
there were two different versions, so it was exciting!

This is my DS4's FAVorite ride :)
