My BF's favorite movie is The Great Mouse Detective, but I don't recall anything in the parks that had to do with it since it wasn't a blockbuster.

Is there even anything in the shops related to it?

I was thinking of possibly ordering a GMD themed cake for him on our last night if I couldn't find anything.

I can honestly say I have never seen anything Great Mouse Detective related in any of the shopping around the parks or in Downtown Disney. I loved this movie when I was younger and just watched it yesterday with my 5 year old daughter. I wish they would have a small shop set up somewhere with limited memorabilia/souvenirs from Disney films that are older or less popular.

Haha my 3 year old is terrified of Fidget the bat-we have a Disney storybook and everything we get it out now he says he doesn't want the story with the scary bat-and if we are going to watch a movie he says make sure it isn't scary like the one with the bat lol

My BF's favorite characters are Ratigan and Fidget!

Guess your 3 year old should also not watch Fern Gully or Anastasia? Or are other bats OK?

No idea hasn't seen any other movies/books with bats

Funny thing is most disney movies/books have a "scary" villain but only the scary bat bothers him lol

I haven't seen anything from the Great Mouse Detective in the parks recently either. At best, there might be a few things in the shops...there were a few Vinylmations (Basil, Rattigan), a few pins (I remember Rattigan), and copies of the movie (it came out on blu-ray back in 2012).

Aha, a chance to force one of my favorite anecdotes into a thread! Back about 20 years ago a friend and I were leaving DL and walking back to the hotel when we saw a long line of people over by an employee area. We wandered over and asked a nice lady what everyone was standing in line for. She said that DL would show Disney movies after-hours for employees and their families in the theater where they do Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, and the line was people waiting to see Great Mouse Detective. We thanked her for the info and were walking away when she said, "My kids said they didn't want to come tonight so I have two extra tickets, would you like to join me?" Uh, yeah! Yeah we did!

We had a great time chatting with her in the line about what it was like to work at DL, then saw the movie (which we thought was surprisingly good), and then exited out the front where we got to see Main Street and the castle with nobody there -- not just very low crowds, but absolutely nobody because the park had already been closed for three hours. It was nice that a CM would be willing to sprinkle pixie dust on guests even when she was off duty. I'll never forget that night, or that movie.

To pretend this is part of the thread I will say this: on certain rare occasions, you can actually see Great Mouse Detective inside the parks, but I wouldn't count on it.

They were part of the great mural of Disney characters in the lobby of the Walt Disney Story. Sadly this is gone now. About time they make a dark ride inside the England pavilion at EPCOT based on this movie.

My boyfriend and I were just discussing this! He wants to dress up as Ratigan for MNSSHP but doesn't think anyone will get it.
