Great 'Good Neighbor' hotels for 5?

Look at me - still at Disneyland but already planning our next trip LOL.

We're coming again late September. We usually stay 5 days in the parks, but hoping to do 6 or maybe even 7 - if the munchkins survive. We have APs.

We always stay onsite. Usually DLH. In December we did the GCH and it was nice but I was not thrilled. DH & I have stayed at PPH back when it was the Pacific and it was just ok. DLH is our fave.

But - to stay longer, means the $ needs to stretch more (we do all the character meals and I'd rather give up on site stay than the meals, we're not early morning folks anyways!)

We have 3 kiddos, and need a room for 5. We'd like a nice room - something nicer than the DLH dated rooms but with a fridge, micro and coffee maker. A suite would be nice - I know there's a lot of '& Suites" in the good neighbor list. It'd be nice to be close for walking, but a shuttle bus isn't the worst thing in the world. Continental bfast would be awesome too. The pool may or may not be used in late Sept (I think we've only ever gone once that time of year to swim).

What are the best ones and the ones to steer clear of? I have always skipped the hotel threads on here cause we're DLH fans, but now I'm wishing I knew more about the local hotels.

Take a look at the Residence Inn, Maingate. We have stayed there numerous times and love it. Less than 1/2 mile from the park and should me your needs.

I was going to suggest the Residence Inn Maingate as well. You get a full kitchen, they have free complementary daily full all-you-care-to-eat hot breakfast (make your own waffles, pancakes or french toast with bacon, sausage, fruit, yogurt, biscuits and gravy, bagels, toast, etc. that might be available on any given day) and a manager's reception in the evening on Mondays, Wednesdays, and every other Friday. For your party size, maybe the Kids Suite would be the best for you... it's a two-story loft-style room (with a bathroom on both floors) with one queen bed upstairs and a double sofa sleeper downstairs and a bunk set (twin on top, full on the bottom).

The staff there is probably the best there is, very friendly and just awesome. There's also a Disney Desk, staffed by an actual Disneyland Resort Cast Member, onsite in the lobby that sells ART shuttle tickets and discounted Disneyland Resort Park Hoppers, also acts as the hotel concierge. They can also do your priority seatings and book tour reservations and such for you as well.

The hotel also offers complementary grocery delivery... just fill out the form with what you want, they go out and purchase it for you, and they charge your room for the items... no extra fee for the service.

Heated pool that's open 24 hours, multi-purpose tennis court/volleyball court/basketball court... plenty of parking (and it's free). There's also an outdoor BBQ area as well with a little firepit and gas grills.

About a 15 minute walk to the main entrance to Disney (otherwise the Anaheim ART is $4 per day for an adult ages 10+ and $1 a day for a child 3-9, there's a small price break if you want to use the service three days in a row or more). Right across the street from the new Anaheim Gardenwalk shopping center as well, where there's a small food court and about eight major restaurants (Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs, California Pizza Kitchen and Roy's Hawaiian Fusion just as an for example). There's also a bowling alley (300), movie theatre with IMAX (CinemaFusion), and a 24 Hour Fitness there as well.

You guys are still there? :)

The last time we got a room up there - we stayed at the Sheraton - we have a total of 6 - and the boys are older. We didn't spend much time in the hotel but I remember the breakfast buffet was incredible - in fast - Ryan was talking about going there for breakfast yesterday morning...

They had a special on their website - I think it was for free breakfast or something when we booked.

I agree with others about the Residence Inn, Maingate. It's an excellent choice. But to give you another option, I believe HoJo will have their Kid Suites available by then. Two separate rooms. King bed in one room, and bunk beds and a sofa sleeper in the second room, and a fridge and microwave. Plus they have the Pirate Cove water play area. Typically, weather is still quite warm in September, so I would plan on using the pool for mid-day breaks.

Thank you for the tip on HoJo's I didn't know they were doing kids suites-- we are booked for late August/early September, hope they will be ready by then.
