My DS12 and DS8 and I love to play games. The simple the better. And I want to get some new ones for them for Christmas. Our favorites in the past have been Uno, Sorry, and Headbanz (did I mention we like simple?). Any suggestions?

Have you checked out some of the Professor Noggins titles? Fun & educational simple card games.

You also can't go wrong with a classic (and fairly simple) board game like Clue.

Mine are 10 and 12 and last year we got Ticket to Ride which we love. We also like Blokus and Qwirkle a lot. This year I bought King of Tokyo. Skip-bo is our favorite card game. My DD is getting Exploding Kittens this year.

Our personal favorites that we play all the time are "Left Center Right" and the card game "31".

Agree that king of tokyo is great (and they just came out with king of new york!) but may be more complicated then OP wants. Along those lines Smash Up is also really fun.

My 8 and 12 yo boys like Wits and Wagers, Smart A**, Apples to Apples Disney version and Trouble.

Say Anything and Wits and Wagers are great games. As long as the kids know how to write, they can play.

Our daughter is 11 and she loves games like "Kingsburg", "Settlers of Catan" and "Munchkin" . She also recently got put on to the Batman edition of "Love Letter". Its a card bluffing game, but there's only 16 cards in the deck, and after the first round or two, its very easy to learn.

Second for Tsuro! It's a very easy game to learn and play for two or more players and is a quick play game. The point is to keep your dragon on the board and have the other dragon/s fly off using.

Other quick games that my DD and I also play a lot are Zombie Dice (you play as a zombie and have to avoid rolling shotgun blasts and score points for rolling brains), Pass the Pigs (roll little pigs like dice, how they land is how you score), Eleminis (a really fun, quick card game with a great online tutorial). I also got Exploding Kittens when it first came out on Amazon (I missed the kickstarter for it) and it is fun to play with a nice variety of strategy and luck.

Another game that is very easy and a different twist on a classic is No Stress Chess. It turns Chess into more of a game of chance as the cards you pick tell you which piece to move on the board. If you are a Chess purist though, you might not like it, but it is very easy to play.

Do you have the Disney version of Headbandz or the regular version? If you have the regular version, I would suggest the Disney version. Our Disney family much prefers it to the regular version. The ones you listed as your favorites are also favorites at our house. DD is 9 and right now, she is also big on Connect 4, Trouble, and Checkers. Sequence is a fun one. We also have the Disney version of Clue which she loves, but we have a hard time getting DH to play and it takes 3 players. Skip-Bo is another one that she was asking to play quite a bit for a while. Minions Monopoly is another one she really enjoys (it is a much shorter simplified version of Monopoly).

My nearly 12 DS loves Monopoly. There is a version called Monopoly Empire that plays a lot simpler and faster that we play in our RV when we're on the road. At camp this past summer he was crazy for a game called Hive that we haven't bought for home yet. Another good one is Catan, which is pretty simple at the surface, but it can get really strategic. We also like Wits and Wagers, Scrabble, Bananagrams, chess, Sorry, Trouble, and Connect Four. And he has resurrected Operation as a quickie when he wants to stall at bedtime.

I second Apples to Apples (Junior)
Blokus
Uno Attack
Pay Day
(those are out kids favs & have been for YEARS...they are 15, 17 & 20 now and those are the games they still pull out for family game night!!!! Though we have advanced to regular Apples to Apples)

We love qwirkle and Monopoly Deal (think monopoly but WAY quicker to play), yahtzee, apples to apples, taboo (may be tough with the 8 yo)
