Great DAS experience with MB

Just back from our annual September trip to WDW. While we have used both the old system and the paper DAS, this was our first experience using the DAS with magic bands. It was terrific. The DAS is for my mother and she was never comfortable with the old system and automatically entering the FP line. The new system with our MB worked great. We were able to easily get return times when needed and my mother was able to wait somewhere else. She said she especially appreciated the privacy the new system offered, it made her feel much more comfortable while still accommodating her needs. We had no problems with CM's, all were very helpful. The only issues we encountered was that sometimes their MB scanners used to give you a return time did not work properly. A couple of times, they had to give us a paper return time after several tries with the scanner. My mom also appreciated that her information was already stored on our account at guest services. It made the process of tranferring to the MB fast and simple. I know the DAS is problematic for some, but it works great for my mother's needs. I hope this puts some people at ease. She was nervous about using he new system. Her issues have to do with waiting in an alternate location, so for her this new system is great.
 
It definitely has its pros and cons. It definitely affords one more privacy for sure and certain. But one of the days of our September trip, I wasted entirely too much time at an attraction waiting for them to figure out who had the device they use to issue the return times. A CM had walked off with it. It took over 20 minutes to get a return time and there wasn't anyone in front of me. And because the return times are issued electronically they couldn't adjust it to take MY LOST TIME off of that. 5 minutes is one thing, but 20+ minutes just to stand there waiting for a return time is unreasonable IMO.
BTW I asked about them just giving me a paper return pass but they were adamant that they needed to use the Ipod device FIRST!! SIGH.....
 
they can adjust it at some attraction ( they have done it for me a few times) and I have watched them do it I asked if they could do it at all of them and the CM was like I think so but some CM do not know how to do it.

I guess I manage to get the poorly trained ones. Because they knew of no such capability....sigh.....
 

what attraction was this at?

some are just bad all the time like SM at MK just about never works for me

They adjusted ours at couple of times when they felt like the posted wait time was off or if there were issues with the scanner. I got the feeling though that the scanners were problematic. On the HM, PP, Small World 7DMT and Toy Story they just gave us paper passes after giving up on the machine. I felt their pain, the scanners didn't seem to work the first time anywhere. I did appreciate their kindness and helpfulness though. When tbe MB worked, it was really terrific. We also like having the times in MDE. I was worried about keeping up with them without the paper DAS. Overall, I think it was the privacy that my mom most appreciated. She was always very self conscious about her needs and this really helped her be able to enjoy our time together.
 
if you every forget your phone or have no way to look up your return time you can go to any fast pass kios and ask them to look it up
