I thought with all of the bad customer service stories we hear, I would share a nice one.

I have a wedding to go to on Saturday so of course, I need to go buy a dress (nothing like the last minute). So off to Macy's I go on my lunch hour. In a nutshell, I found a dress and go to the register to pay for it. It was $89, plus tax so the total was $96.23. The girl rung it up and said to me "I'm sorry, this is not included in the 15% off today (for Veteran's Day)". I just chuckled and said that's ok, happens to me all the time. I swiped my card and signed my name. When I was finished, she asked me to wait a second, she wanted to try something. So she voided out the sale and rung it up again and somehow managed to scan a coupon in. Not only did she get me the 15% off, she scanned another coupon and I got an additional 10% so my total price for the dress came to $73.61 with tax. She saved me $22.62. She was so nice and I couldn't thank her enough. It is really nice to see that there are customer service people that will go the extra mile.

So, yes, there are great customer service people out there.

Lucky you! Usually the sales people (i run into) are rude. You ask them a question and all you get is "umph".

coliebird, I had a similar great experience at Macy's as well. Almost exactly the same situation when I was buying a couple of suits. With the salesperson's help, she ended up helping me save more than $400.00!

You might like to look at your receipt. Can't remember where it is, whether it's on the front or back, but there's a blurb that encourages the shopper to go online and write comments. They also ask for the individual's ID # which should also be on the receipt. And it works!

I went back to the same department in the same store about two months later and the same saleswoman saw me, ran over and thanked me for sending on my message. She apparently got huge kudos during a staff meeting and there's some sort of bonus program as well.

Nice! And if it was a dress you atually liked, too-so much the better! (I don't know if I've ever found a last-minute dress that I LOVED...but with savings like that, how can you lose?;))

I agree, we should share the positive stories! Thanks.

And this was a NY Macy's? Why, didn't she know that New Yorkers are rude and pushy? (that's a joke folks. I'm from NY and I know this isn't true.)

Rick, she actually asked me if I would take a minute and do that. It is already done. It's the least I could do for such great service.

LOL Missy.

Ballroombelle, the funny part is I didn't like the dress at all when I saw it hanging there, but I added it to the pile anyway. I'm glad I did b/c it looked so much better on than on the hanger.

I work in customer service. I will always try and help someone out when they are nice. The situation the op described I have also done. I have no problem going above and beyond when customer's are nice. When they start acting rude and demanding then I will follow the companies rules right to the letter. Generally people are nice. It makes me feel good to help someone out.

That's great that there are people like that out there, it's hard to come across alot of the time.
