Great Ceremonial House welcomes PVB owners' thread

On his Facebook page, Tikiman is reporting that Sunset Pointe will have the same elevation as before, but will be much larger and have more usable space. He is also reporting that you can see the MK fireworks from Sunset Pointe.

Is that what he said? I mean I read about the more useable space and height of Sunset Pointe but I came away with the impression that he said could see the Castle and fireworks from the pool and the beach area right by it and didn't understand he meant from Sunset Pointe. Gotta re-read. :surfweb: It really is interesting to see his videos of all the work and how he feels it affects the stay at the resort right now. I knew there was a lot going on but it's a whole lot of scrims and construction fence. I'm sure everyone is glad that at least some is closing in on the finish line in the DVC section.

Here is what Tikiman posted:

"Sand has been brought in to line the Moorea beach and all along Sunset Pointe. The new Sunset Pointe is just as elevated as the old one and a much larger and usable area. You can see over the bungalows from it and you will see fireworks from it. Landscaping is looking great."

As I reread it, its possible he is taking about standing on the beach. But since Sunset Pointe is elevated above the beach, its safe to assume that if you can see the fireworks from Moorea's beach, you should be able to see them from Sunset Pointe.

When I went an re-read it I'd agree that he meant it's from the Pointe itself. It's nice to hear!

I bought a 168 point guaranteed week 44 lake view on Monday. That's the float between MNSSHP and MVMCP so one in some years, the other in others, and if the stars line up right, both every once in awhile.

Plus. F&W each year and PVB is practically an EPCOT resort considering the skip and jump to the EPCOT monorail.

We are excited to be "plank owners" at Poly. Our other home is BC.

Honestly, I think the criticism is overdone here and elsewhere. I think some changes will be made. Connecting rooms will almost certainly be a booking category. That was a dud and I think once they realize the impact a lack of guarantee is having on interest, they'll fix it.

IF they add 1BRs down the road, you can bet they will price points even higher. We like 1BRs. Don't get me wrong. But when studios are done right, they fit our travel style, too. We love the AKV studios, but not the isolation.

My DW and I believe that the studios at PVB will surpass our expectations, and PVB - walking distance from TTC - is the best positioned resort transportation wise. In fact, were considering taking our first WDW trip without driving or renting a car this fall. Throw in the possibility of fireworks from our balcony, and we are excited by this purchase.

Plus. I've now officially committed to staying at Poly until I'm 98.

Extrapolating from the numbers wdrl and others crunched from Disney's filings:

Total Poly Points: 4,069,020

Bungalow Points: 1,073,100 or 26.4%
Lake View Points: 683,280 or 16.8%
Stnd View Points: 2,312,640 or 56.8%

Interesting.

So. What happens when some large percentage of a million bungalow points chase 680,000 lake view points? Or even 2.3 million stnd view points? I think all those people passing on Poly because with so many studios, surely there'll be 7 month availability, are going to be surprised.

In three years, as the resort is sold, this medium sized monorail DVC resort (with a totally revamped property and a short walk to the TTC) is going to be in high demand. By then, the buy-in cost will have gone up.

Definitely a possibility. I think a equal concern will be for those who bought at Poly trying to book will have a challenge themselves.

Given what happened at the VGF at 11 months, I'd agree.

Both are new monorail resorts that have a high buy-in that makes it not economical to use points elsewhere. VGF has lots fewer studios, that's true. Its also smaller than Poly. That said, Poly may have more studios, but Poly points are more limited to those studios.

I think it's reasonable to consider that VGF and PVB will have more in common with 11 month booking issues than not. Both are smaller point monorail resorts with high Buy-in that translates to affinity to use points at home.

So, why would these two be different than BLT in this regard? Size. BLT is bigger. Put another way, would BLT have an 11 month booking window problem for studios if it were a 2.5 million point resort? 4 million?

VGF and PVB also are the only two WDW fixed week resorts. Certainly impacts the equation for the popular DVC times of year if 35% of a room category is booked before the 11 month period.

What is true today may not always be the case.
If Tikimans rumors are true, PVB may not be this size in a few years. Could be more rooms coming in 5 years or so.
Also, there is no guarantee VGF will stay this size. If DVD feels they can make more money with an addition to VGF, they should do so for the shareholders.
Disney will make decisions based on what they think will be profitable.
