Great books and movies

i just wanted to recommend some great (and i mean great!) books and movies to all my dis friends.

Books:

Falling Angels by Tracy Chevalier
Briar Rose by Jane Yolen
The Shovel and the Loom by Carl Friedman

Videos/movies/films:

The Red Violin
Left Luggage (based on the shovel and the loom)


Just my opinion though!

Some of the best printed and bound thingies that I have ever leafed through:
~The Butterfly Jar by Jeff Moss (poetry by one of the chief writers for Sesame Street)
~Pure Drivel by Steve Martin (it's silly, it's strange, it's drivel...)
~Nutcracker E.T.A. Hoffman and Maurice Sendak (the traditional tale with pictures by the creator of Where the Wild Things Are, based on his designs for the Pacific Northwest Ballet production).

Things that have been projected onto large screens for the amusement of many that I found particularly interesting:
~Take the Money and Run (Woody Allen's Mock-umentary about the world's worst thief)
~Rushmore
~Frank and Ollie (Documentary on two of Walt's 'Nine Old Men')

I'm sure that these are not secrets by any stretch... I make no claims of being well read or much of a film scholar, but they all make me smile.

Is Pure Drivel by the actor Steve Martin or the sci-fi author?
I read a book (not sure of the title) by the actor and wasn't too impressed...

Steve Martin the actor... Pure Drivel was his first book, but he's written the screenplays to several of his movies. The big screen adaptation of his latest book, Shop Girl will star Jimmy Fallon of SNL.

Thats the one I read! Shop Girl!! It was an interesting book...
