anyone who is a dvc member or timeshare owner should read the article in this months smartmoney magazine........generally it is not too flatter for the indusrty or the owners of timeshares but interestingly there were no people interviewed either with good or bad comment from DVC????? i emailed the and told them most DVCer's are not representive of what is written in their article........15 days to the 7 day western carr. with the wife and baby

Which months issue are you refering to August or Sept? I looked online for both months, and couldn't find the article.

I did find an interesting article on taxes that are owed when renting a timeshare. It lays out some information that others here might be interested in knowing. For one thing, the days rented vs. days used aren't calculated the same as for owning a second home. They base days rented as days rented by all owners of the timeshare. I'll leave it to others to wade through the info. It does point out the need to consult with a tax expert if you are going to rent out your points regularly.

Thanks for the insight. I was wondering about the tax consequences of renting out my points--(even though we are brand new owners). I will have to check out the article.
