Great American Scrapbook Convention - Arlington, TX

Hi girls!

I just checked www.greatamericanscrapbook.com and saw that online registration for this year's convention is supposed to start this Saturday, March 27.

Who's planning on going? What day(s) should we plan to have another fun DIS get-together at a cropping party?

I'm planning on being there at least for a crop (or 2). My 12yo DD has recital that weekend so it would have to be Thursday or Friday for the crop.

I'm gonna go again. It was so much fun last year, even though I didn't even sit down to scrap anything at the crop.

Have you noticed, though, that there's no information on that site except the dates of the conventions and registration dates. But where's the information about what we can register for? Cutting it a bit close aren't they?

I'm SO glad that the two of you are planning on being back this year.

I agree that it's strange there's no details about the convention yet. There have always been big computer problems when the registration opens up. I doubt it will be up and running on Saturday, but I guess we can hope for the best.

I haven't visited with Denise for a few months, but I'm fairly certain that she and Leta are planning on coming back. We reserved rooms at the Wyndham for this year while we were there last year.

It would be fine with me to do both the Thursday and Friday crops. I have had a great time at all of them in the past and two nights would give us more time to visit and maybe get things done, too!

Let's keep in touch when the registration does start. Maybe there'll even be a class we'd want to do together.

Anyone try to get into the site today? It's down because they're still trying to resolve some problems. (Seems to me they should have done this a week or so ago.)

I can't get in today but was able to view the schedules last night. This is not a real suprise since they always seem to have problems with registration. Not the most organized folks.

I'm planning to attend. I don't know if my friend Jacque is coming or not. Thanks for the heads-up. We need to figure this out. If she can't come, I may bring my DD with me this year. She's 13 and probably old enough to enjoy it.

Janette, did you hit the tent sale in Orlando? They had some great deals on scrapbooking stuff for Disney, although the choices were limited. I thought of you!

I didn't make it to the tent sale, I was at the outlets the week before and they mentioned it but I only had a car that day.

I did pick up a few scrapbook things, they were about 50% off.

Let me know if your DD is going to come and I'll have mine come the same night. They might enjoy it more that way. We have dress rehearsal on Saturday so we'd have to work around that.

Looks like Jacque and I will be there for sure on Friday to shop. I'm not sure about Thursday night. We'll probably go home on Friday.

I don't know yet if we will do a crop, that's yet to be decided. If we're not staying the night we won't crop since it'd be a long trip home. I'll decide about Amy when I know for sure what we are going to do. I'll let you know, Janette, when we decide.

It worked a lot more smoothly than last year.

After trying off and on all day, I got signed up just fine a minute ago!! It wasn't dreadfully slow to load each page like last year. Maybe they are getting better at handling the high volume of traffic.

Merry - it's so good to see that you and Jacque are coming again. Every time I go to Scrapbooks from the heart and look at their crop schedule I think I should see if the two of you would like to do one of those sometime. I know you mentioned you go their some.

Maybe we can do a class together since it doesn't sound like cropping is in your schedule this year.

The Disney class is only offered twice and the other time conflicts with the Friday crop. That might be a fun one for us to do together except it's awfully darn early in the morning

My girls will be at Girl Scout camp on Thursday so I'll only be able to do the crop. I might be a little later to get in line but I can be there by 6pm.

Has anyone done the Color Blocking? That sounded like it might be good for me and a way to get several pages done quickly and I need that!

Janette,

I have a couple of those color blocking templates and I have been happy with the pages I've done with them. They are a great way to use lots of photos on every page and they help you place the embellishments neatly, too.

I've never done anything other than just cut out each area of the template and glue them on the base, though. Maybe the class will include fancier things than that.

That was a class I was looking at myself. Maybe I'll go back and sign up for that one and join you!

Nope, that wasn't me. Sorry. I was the one that barely sat at the table the whole night. But this year I will definitely be working instead of spending.
