GRE exam

I'm scheduled to take the GRE exam in a couple of weeks and I'm getting very nervous. I'm a good test taker, but everybody I've talked to said it's hard

What were your experiences with it? Easier or harder than expected? Any essay questions?

Get yourself a GRE practice book and you'll be fine.

Hard? Yep. But you'll make it.

I'm a math whiz, but not so good at writing. So, my practice consisted of 90%writing and verbal practice and 10% math practice. Guess what! I totally aced the writing and stumbled on the math. There was even a question that was directly related to my job and that I excelled at at work, but for the life of me, I couldn't figure it out on the exam and I panicked because I should have been able to do it well.

Lesson is, study for all sections.

The tests are computerized, so don't use a book to practice, use a computer to practice. yes, there is an essay question.

Yes, it's difficult but not excessively so. Lots of critical thinking. I agree with the other poster, get a practice exam book or CD and become familiar with the types of questions they ask you.

I just registered today to take the test on Oct 21st I don't think there is time to order a book or cd, unless I reschedule it. I took the Praxis tests and easily passed on the first try.
