Given: Gray 1 is shower and vanity sink. Gray 2 is kitchen sinks. On the gray 2 the tester is always reading 2/3 full, unless I fill the tank completely. It does not change even after I dump the tank. It stays at 2/3.

This is a guess, but I think the sensors are greased up from washing dishes/pots/pans etc.

I have tried a little bit of holding tank cleaner (a few ozs.), including filling the tank all the way up with water, then dumping----Result failure.

Also, a tip I got. Dump a gallon of clorox down sink drains. Fill tank up all the way. Wait a few hours, than dump tank----Result failure

I can not get my flexible black tank water jet thingamajig through the kitchen sink drain guards. Another failure.

Any ideas out there. Or really, HELP ! ! ! Realizing that I was an Accountant in my former life.

Normally to really get the tank cleaners or other products to work, you need to put the chemical in, fill the tank almost full (so it will slosh)and then drive around awhile.

One other product that I have heard does a good job is fabric softener with the bleach.

There are number of different ways to clean out a black tank, different ways to get a little abrasive "scrubbing" in the tank to clean off the sensors. The problem is that you don't have a good way to get some ice cubes or shaved ice into your grey tank.

My suggestion would be to put a measure of non-liquid dishwasher soap and very warm water in the grey tank, then tow it around town for a while. The sloshing should help create some scrubbing with the abrasive soap and you might clean off whatever is caked on the sensors. I did that in my black tank last year when it seemed stuck on full, and it seemed to help.

That being said, by reputation those sensors are about the least reliable measurement devices you can have, next to the stick-on propane tank guages.

I never rely on the sensors, especially the black tank sensor. When water is backing up the shower drain, time to empty the gray tank. The most reliable sensor.
