Anyone else out there have gray hair? I have colored my hair at times but for the last 10 years have just let it be natural. I did have "low lights" a couple years ago but for $70.00 it was not worth the trouble. I am now getting white in spots. My hair is naturally salt and pepper and pretty well blended. I happen to like it but when I see all this stuff about hair color, I feel kind of like a rebel.

How about you? Brave enough to go gray?

Iwent natural a few years ago, until the kids friends were questioning if I were the mother or grandmother, and if I am the mom why is my hair like a grandmas. That made me go back to coloring it. After I went back to coloring people told me how glad they were to see me using color because natural just made me look so old.

I'm about 75% gray but I still color my hair. My stylist said she would hunt me down if I ever decided to go natural. She said it would make me look much older than I am. I just don't like the texture of my gray hair. It is so wiry that it is getting harder to control. It takes a lot longer to fix my hair.

I do love my husband's hair now that it is getting gray.

Funny thing, (or is it???) men can get gray and they look better than ever! Women, poor things, just look old. Sure wish society could take on a different point of view! :sunny:

I have been coloring my hair for at least 10 years and I don't see stopping any time soon.

I am 39 and been plucking for about 2 years now. Nothing serious but I will not let it go natural when there are more than 10 or 20 to pick out. I'm blonde so it doesn't show a lot.

My hubby is blonde too but going gray and its hard to tell. I agree.... men look distinguished.. we look old!

I've been coloring for about 20 years! I started to gray early though. I have to color since my DH is 8 years younger than me. :o I also have a 2 y/o & don't want people to think I'm his grandma!

I am 36 and colored my hair for 15 years. About a year or so ago I stopped and now about 40% is grey w/ thick grey streaks at my temples. I do use the purple shampoo for grey hair(it makes the grey prettier)about once a week. This past Christmas at a party a child asked if I was my 3 yr olds grandma! Ha! I like it because its differant then all my girlfriends colored hair. Hubby seems to like my hippie look too!:hyper:

I colored mine for the first time yesterday. No one in the house noticed or said anything. I did one of the ones that wash out in 28 shampoos, I wanted to try the color it's really close to my natural color. I was so happy not seeing the grays this morning.

I have colored my hair for 7 years. I use a shade pretty close to my natural color (auburn). I started to get gray pretty young, and can tell that if I let it grow out (perish the thought), it would all be salt and pepper. I like the color I use, I feel like I am too young to be gray. (I am 35).

I've been letting my hair go natural, although it was always close to my natural color anyway. Now I have an idea of what it really looks like. The small amount of gray is spread around pretty evenly and doesn't look bad. But my gray is really shiny white, and courser than my hair is, so what's there is pretty obvious. So, I'll go back to coloring it.

I still have two kids in elementary school, so I refuse to let myself go gray! Two of my kids are red heads (my natural color has always been the mousiest of brown). Whenever I color my hair with a slight reddish tint, I get "So that's where the red hair comes from!"

I sing in our church choir and there are lots of ladies in the choir who are 65+. Upon reflection, I truly think of the ladies who aren't gray/white haired as younger, even if I know in my head that they are 70 years old. I may never let myself go gray.

But please, don't dye your hair jet black if it was never jet black in your youth! My husband has an aunt and uncle who must share the same box of hair dye...at 70 years old, both have the blackest of black hair! LOL.

One more thing. I know a woman who is nearing 50, who is one of those fortunate tiny tiny very youthful looking ladies. She always had golden hair. Recently I saw her with gray hair with silver highlights. She sells educational supplies to schools, etc. and said that her sales have gone way up now that she looks more mature!

I got my first gray hair when I was 24. :( Now it's about 10% gray. I've never colored my hair. Something about putting those chemicals so close to my already troubled brain just doesn't seem right. My grandma was 68 years old when she passed and she never had a gray hair. I wish I had her hair :(

I am fair skinned and have light brown/blonde hair. If you really look at my hair it has many, many colors. Red, brown, gold, white etc. I have always had 3 very noticable white or really blonde streaks in my hair. When I have tried to color it, the streaks stay the same original color. It's really kind of funny. I have had complete strangers come up to me and ask why it's that way. Anyway, I don't even try to color it anymore and just go with what nature intended.
