Gray hair spray

We're having homecoming week next week, so that means each day has a dress up theme. There is a day that I want to dress up as Paula Deen, but I don't want to buy an expensive wig. I was thinking about buying some gray hair spray at a novelty store, but I'm concerned about it washing out the next day. Will my hair still have gray in it even after I wash it?

I've never used gray but have sprayed orange and blue on my kids. It always washes out...might have to really scrub at the part and the hairline.

DD dressed up as Abby from NCIS for halloween. We used the spray color to make her med brown hair black. While the black washed out - after several shampoo and rinse cycles - her hair wasn't "black", but it looked like she had darkened it. Within 2 weeks, you didn't notice it looking darker.

Depending on your base color, gray resedue may not stand out. And if you do go that route, depending on your hair length and texture, you may need several cans. For DD's shoulder length, thick hair, it took us 2 1/2 cans to get complete coverage.

Grab some Prell shampoo when you get the colored hairspray. Prell will even strip previously dyed hair (if used within 48 hours).

I learned this the hard way, when I used dark brown hair dye on my medium brown hair and looked like I dyed my hair black. A few shampoos with Prell, and I was back to my "normal" color (I had dyed my hair to get rid of my reddish foils I got a couple months prior).

it will wash right out. My DD has waist long blonde hair. We sprayed it back for halloween and it came out when she washed it.

What a cute costume, I can hear the accent now!

I picked up some purple spray dye from Sally Hansen Beauty Supply and it washed out right away.

Thanks! I feel much more secure now. The dress up day is called Wannabee Day. Even though I don't "wannabee" Paula Deen, I'd love to have my own cooking show. Plus, we have a similar build.
