Gravitron type ride

Doesnt Mission space spin like the Gravitron??? with out the ground falling out....thats the only thing at the World close to it

Yes- the orange side uses the same idea as the gravatron to give you the feeling of wieghtlessness.

I've been asked to leave many a gravitron for turning upside down during the ride. :rotfl2:

Never been on one but I was on something similar. It was a straight walled cylinder so you stood absolutely straight up and down and the floor dropped out and you just stuck there.

Generically called "The Rotor"; a staple at many amusements parks years ago. Not too many in existence any more. Perhaps the original was at Coney Island and was called "The Hellhole." It cost the same $ to ride OR watch. There was a viewing platform at the top for voyuers.

Most "respectable" amusement parks won't let you turn upside down while riding the Gravitron. Parking lot carnivals, State Fairs, now that's another story...

and if you were laughing or smilng, if felt like your face was frozen that way with the force. I miss it so much!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny about this thread: the other day, I was telling DD12 that there was the ride called "the time shaft" at Kings Dominion here in VA years ago when I was growing up.

You would go in,lean up against the wall, your feet would be on the floor. then it would start spinning, at one point, the floor would go down.

I loved that ride!!!!!!! but they took it out.

Yep....it was inside the "mountain" that now houses the Volcano coaster. There was also a train ride through that mountain that had scenes featuring some type of weird mutant creatures. "Land of the Dooze" or something like that. There might also have been another ride or two in the mountain.

As several others have pointed out, Mission Space has the same sort of G-force effect as The Gravitron.

Yes, and then that became Smuf mountain. . I remember Lion Country Safari and it was like a monorail and there were real animals you would see. Oh memories!!!!!!!!!

REally? At my local fair, they let you and the guy in the booth was in the middle that didn't move... and he'd point at you to turn around before it slowed down to you falling on your face.
