Graumann's theater parking & El Capitan question

We want to visit Graumann's theater and I was wondering where we park. Also, what exactly is the El Capitan Theater? (I get it's a theater, but is it something we visit? Are there shows?) I also remember reading something about there being an ice cream shop nearby, perhaps related to Disney somehow?

You can park at the parking garage that is just off of the intersection of Hollywood and Highland. It is $10 and will put you right in the middle of everything. The El Capitan is an actual theatre and yes you can go see the current movies there. The theatrs (Graumans and El Capitan) and Soda Fountain shop are all right around each other.

Note..we got there around 7:30a and had the place to ourselves for a while. Everything opens at 9a and the food portion of the soda shop opens at 11a.

When we left around 9:30-10a it was starting to get nuts/crowded around the Grauman Theatre.

That $10 is a daily max - you get 4 hours for $2 with validation - and there is a validation machine in the El Capitan ( probably at the Soda Fountain too).

after that it is $1 per 20 min. You'll need to enter off Highland.

The El Cap also usually has some little stage show and a live organist playing Disney music before the film - although it's a bit pricey. The Soda Fountain sells pins you can only get there.

The walk of fame is in front of both theaters ( and around the blocks...)

You can also park in the garage off of Orange and Hollywood Blvd. $2 for 4 hours if validated. We just parked there night before last and ate at the Disney soda fountain, which by the way, is cheaper than Johnny Rocket's in the Hollywood and Highland center.
